  1. i turn my clicker on and adjust it to where it just lets the line out. if you free spool them out your just asking for it to tangle.
  2. a lot of guys use willow but i bought some colorado blades from galeforcetackle.com and i've had great luck with them. i just picked out the colors i wanted then contacted them and asked them to tie me up some tandem harnesses. dr death, reverse muffin, jawbreaker has been some of my favorite colors.
  3. its the only harness i use any more. better at slower speeds but works at normal speeds also.
  4. where do you get blood worms? don't they cost a lot more than nightcrawlers?
  5. early in the spring i run cranks at 1.0 to 1.6 as the water warms i try a little faster. as the bite slows and the water warms i switch to harnesses at 1.6 to 2.0 or all spoons at 2.5 to 3.0. a lot of time in the spring i've found fish shallow. but if there deeper a lot of guys use deep divers and let out line then attach clip on weights to get them down. if there deep you can use shallow cranks behind divers ( dipsy, deeper diver, lite bite slide divers) to get them down.
  6. these baits don't run great together. spoons need to run at least 2.2 but work better at 2.8. harnesses run better at 1.6 to 2.0 but can be run 2.2. i'm not sure where cranks work best. but this time of yr i'd run all spoons at 2.8 to 3.0. the spoon bite has been awesome the last couple of yrs. if the spoons aren't producing i'd move. right now in the central basin anywhere from 35' to 60' has been producing fish. with 50' to 60' being hot.
  7. go to fishusa.com and get the wilderness trolling rods in 8' med or med/light for 19.99 each. they are what you need for trolling. then get a good reel to go on them. try to get daiwa accupepth plus reels or a step up to the okuma convector or a step higher and get the daiwa sealine reelst stay away from the okuma magda reels if possible..
  8. i'll buy the angled rod holders if you'll change your mind about shipping. i live in muncie indiana so shipping is my only option. they should ship for about 12.00 which i'll pay. i can just pay you 77.00 and you ship or i can pay 65.00 then pay shipping after you ship. i can pay any way you want. please ship them to me.
  9. I totally agree. as long as this virus is around I think restrictions should be tighter than they are. people in places like Indiana that has a lockdown should enforce it. I went to the drug store on the 3rd and traffic was about normal. that many people could not have needed to be out.
  10. as long as things are better by july it doesn't bother me. but we rented a house in Ashtabula the last 2 weeks of july. but I feel for all the others that have made plans.
  11. thank you for posting this. the walleye fishing looks great for yrs to come even with a few bad hatches. we were still getting a large number of the 03 hatch when the small fish took over. we've had 3 awesome hatches out of 4. with the 18 hatch being the best on record. plus we are getting fish early to the east from the resident hatches. just hope i'm able to keep fishing for the next 10 yrs. i'm 68 now and not near as healthy as I was 10 yrs ago. I fish Geneva ohio on the central basin.
  12. i'm with justfishin. what would you take for it? what are you looking to trade for?
  13. are you guys catching fish trolling on erie? haven't ever trolled this early but thinking about it. any info would really help?
  14. just got home from church and fully charged. this is my new boat I got off ebay for 220.00 for the boat motor and trailer. 17' tri hull open bow with 85 hp Johnson motor and roller trailer. it was sold by rawhide charity. sorry guys but I cant figure out how to get to my pictures. but its a nice old boat, motor, and trailer. I have added an electric winch.
  15. I assume you know how to wire the batteries for 24v. but just in case you hook the neg of one battery to the pos of the other battery then use the unused posts to the trolling motor. if you have any questions about this feel free to message me. I always wire my ff to the starting battery.
  16. i've been out on erie's central basin and lost cell phone service. the marine radio will reach the coast guard when your phone wont work.
  17. we used them a lot on the western basin yrs ago. and I would like to have 100.00 for every fish caught on them. the main reason you don't hear about them catching fish is nobody uses them anymore. if I was still fishing the western basin i'd still be using them.
  18. like already said above the scorpion spoon has a paint problem. just a few fish and you need to change it out. but they do catch fish. I tried the gale force tackle spoons and they caught just as many fish without losing paint. we are pretty much rookies. we was fishing erie's central basin in july. we used gale force jawbreaker, dr death, reverse muffin, then 3 scorpion spoons on the other side. we ran 6 divers 2.8 to 3.0 mph. it took 4 3/4 hrs to get our 5 mon limit. jawbreaker caught a third of the fish. and the one jawbreaker was all we had. vicki at gale force had sent it to me as a sample with my order. this next yr I'm going to start with 3 jawbreaker spoons on one side of my boat. then dr death on the other side with a couple of scorpion spoons on the other side. I like the size of the gale force small spoons or scorpion sized spoons. another good reason for gale force spoons is the price of 4.50 where most other spoons cost more. plus the paint is bullet proof.
  19. yeah I decided to get the icom with built in gps. then just register in with boatus and your ready to go. if you have an emergency just hit the button and the coast guard get all your info and you gps location. you can also run a radio without gps through your boat gps. sherman
  20. have you thought about mounting a board across one of the front corners. then mount the tm to the board. i didnt do a tm but did a minn kota anchor winch this way on the bow of my boat. i couldnr get the winch out past the bow edge. mounted a 2X6 to the boat with the end out far enough for the winch to lift the anchor without the rope rubbing the boat. the only other thing i can think of is using a transom mounted tm.
  21. couldn't find anyplace to post this. just wanted to let you guys know about some out of state fishing. made a trip to md to visit my niece. her man took me fishing on the Potomac river. we used pompano rigs with 2 hooks. used shrimp and cut white perch we caught on the shrimp. day one we did good and I took a few pictures. day two didnt take pictures. but day two was amazing. I used 2 rods and stayed busy from about noon until about 6:00 when I had caught all the cats I wanted to catch. just quit and stuck my rods in the holders. day two I caught at least 50 cats in a half day of fishing. hope this do get deleted. I was going to add pictures but I don't know how. i figured out the pictures
  22. I just made a trip to phoenix and drove back. I seen hundreds and hundreds of acers of barren land in az and nm. why would anyone even think about screwing up lake erie with all this barren land that could be used?
  23. i've been using the lite bite for a few yrs now and they are everything there supposed to be. but I use them like a dipsy. I tie my leader to a o-ring then put on a bead and lace it through the back going through the lite bite arm.
  24. were you fishing your divers deep enough? the deepest i have fished was 65' deep in 75' of water. i know my lite bite slide divers set on 4.5 with 65# power pro at 1.8 to 2.0 gets me down 2.7' for every 10' of line out. to double check this i went to 65' and let out 240' of line and bumped bottom. i got the 2.7 by going to 50' of water and let out line until i bumped bottom. it took 185' to hit bottom. then i devided 185' by 10' which gave me 18.5 times 10'. then i devided 50 by 18.5 which is how many times 10' it took to hit bottom. that gave me a dive curve of 2.7. now its just for reference when running spoons at 2.8 to 3.0. because they dont dive as deep at faster speeds. and you wont get the same dive curve with other divers or lighter line. if the marks was at 75' in 80' of water your leads should have been over 200' out.
  25. will you ship? I would take the light, all hooks, bumpers, gas line, if you still have them. give me a total with shipping.
