Years ago during the Blue Pike fishery times, my father stored our boat in the canal behind the bridge.. We headed out the south gap to 55 foot of water off the Crystal Beach Park docks. Now with Hanna Blast Furnaces and Bethlehem Steel operations history, The lack of boat moorings and Boat ramps water can be made available for especially south town residents. Sail boat masts are limited by the bridge clearances, but there are plenty of sail boats in Buffalo Harbor waters. Show your interest in access here and maybe our political leaders can champion a movement for quicker safer docks with closer parking for the users of this vacant area.

Off Route  243 and Route 98 near Rushford Lake is the work site going on now. Hundreds of workers vehicles are parked there along with construction equipment. Power transmission right of ways are being cleared to inter connect the towers through out Allegany County.  Patrol cars, buses and homeowners are having charging stations to not use gasoline anymore. Battery operation is keeping the states move rather than gasoline and diesel fumes. The farmers  are making a better living collecting lease money rather than feeding and cleaning cows. Battery storage buildings are being built  since power plants will shut down on weekends as in European nations.

So as expected construction of new wall or repair of old will begin this spring. Woth it the marina will be closed. This will leave us with few launch sites to hit the lake.  We already know of all the launches and most we know have very limited parking.  My question is because I've never had to use it. How's Barcelona ?  Anything needed to know? Hazards? Parking limitations and fishing areas?  No need for numbers or "secret" spots. But what's the basic travel distance to decent fish able water. Thanks in advance.

Fished saturday 6:00 AM, rumor on the launch was good walleye fishing in 90fow.  Setup in 80 ft a little west with worm harnesses and put the rigger with the probe in first and was a little shocked to see 49 degrees at 60 ft down. Looked like bait on the bottom and the top. Ran baits top to bottom. after a couple hours of some releases and no fish move to 60 fow  and east, no temp break and started to find fish. Would have liked to stay but with an open boat the heat and sun got us off the water with two 15 inch walleyes . Maybe the 90 fow worked for some, not us.

After spending the previous season at the Catt, prior to that at Sturgeon Point, I’ve brought the boat home to Buffalo. Rising rates and fuel prices helped make the move home an easy call. Politics at Sturgeon continue to be untenable. Looking forward to having the boat close and more easily accessible! If your out and about and don’t mind sharing please post up your reports, I’ll do the same! Hoping to get the old girl out of storage this week and target a trip soon!
