Jimdski Posted Tuesday at 01:46 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 01:46 AM Emeralds leave the River at 42 degree water temperatures, What is it now?
Jimdski Posted Tuesday at 10:35 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 10:35 AM The emerald shiners move into Lake Erie where they feed upon plankton critters in mid June. Bait dealers in Huron, Ohio set inner tube floats with white gas Coleman Lanterns in lake waters to attract emeralds in the lights. They travel out at night to scoop bait near their lanterns. My travels to Erie Pennsylvania bait dealer's showboats with a stack of electric quartz lights on the bow after they anchor up to attract emeralds for their bait business now that the yellow perch catches are numerous. I was stationed at the Huron light house in my Coast Guard time and the shallow shoals there were perch and walleye takes were with trap nets that kept their fish alive for harvest without spoilage as immediate ice was added on their catch. The clear eyes and bright red gills were indicators of fresh fish.
Sbflomike Posted Tuesday at 01:51 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 01:51 PM Wow nice. So we should start seeing some better numbers shortly. Thanks for the post!
