  1. Anyone doing anything at the windmills lately? Looking to get out tomorrow.
  2. Any wave reports? Trees looking like it could be bad...
  3. Out yesterday in about 50' seeing lots of markings. Got 3 nice ones, a nice perch and of course those fighting sheepshead. Funny thing, got one trolling before my trolling motor batteries were shot (have to deal with that today). But the other 2 larger ones were just off drifting harnesses at about 1mph. I was going out to the border line and drifting in lol. Saw a couple guys with limits. Not sure how long they were out. Bite should pick up soon!
  4. Get out at all? Also, is there any walleye luck this time of year?
  5. Thanks Joe. Hoping to get out a couple more times. Wish the perch gathered out of Small Boat. Would make things a lot easier launching there.
  6. You end up getting out Monday? If anyone was still getting out where's the best place to launch these days?
  7. Hey Joe! Always like reading your posts. Out of Sturgeon in 52' grabbed 81. Was marking them good. Cooled off around noon and moved farther west and closer to shore (around 54') and finished off the day with a two man limit. Don't launch out of Sturgeon with an easterly wind lol. The bar is making itself known.
  8. Forecast was horrible. Thought I was looking at 5mph winds and low waves
  9. Was out yesterday also, launched out of the Catt. Picked up two under 15 right away in 75ish. Marked lots at 60 but looked small, no idea what they were. Got 5 for the day but took some patience. Funny story, my rod bends like I hit a boulder. Pick it up and not sure if a snag until it starts hammering line out lol. So yeah I believe it's gotta be a big sheephead. Anyway, get it in and yeah, big sheephead. So my cousin gets it unhooked without having to net it. We continue on and notice this big ass fish who fought like a champ is still floating. Me and my cousin look at each other and are like yeah, let's go, and we want to try revive the thing. I turn the trolling motor around, start heading for the fish which was still belly up, when a damn seagull lands on top of the fish and starts hammering away. I turn to ask Dave if he saw that and WHAM. Dude hits a fat walleye when he was reeling in his lure after turning around to tend to a sheephead lol. Was one of the keepers. Mostly staying off bottom with worm harnesses between 80 and 85.
  10. Here's a question for you guys, when night fishing Erie, what if any lighting do you use on your boat besides the standard nautical navigation lights?
  11. Slow today. Two right away in the morning then nada. Judging by the boats out at 7 and the few remaining closer too noon wondering if they went deeper. Spent a lot of time from 30-35'
  12. Thanks Fishy took your advice! One man limit in 4 hours including a 29"r
  13. Behind the break wall at the south gap, outside Safe Harbor? Trolling or jigging?
  14. Thank you, great info! But as far as the rod goes, I'm still confused as to why an 8'3" trolling rod would have a 'light' power classification. My 7' spinning rods which are medium have a lot of tip activity when trolling 40' + . Throw a crankbait on and it's even more active. I bought an Ugly Stick 8'3" Bigwater rod and like the flexibility of the rod but a little confused about it being light action. Most trolling rods I see are at least a medium.
  15. New member so I apologize if this is not the correct forum. I fish Lake Erie for walleye and perch and dont mind the fun bass! I have several Ugly Stick and Pflueger spinning rods. I mostly would cast and jig but last season I started trolling. I still love my spinning combos but to troll for walleye this year I was debating between a couple different combos. All are trolling rods with line counting reels but I have a couple questions... I was debating between the Okuma great lakes trolling combo, the Ugly Stick Walleye combo and the Ugly Stick Bigwater combo 8'3". What struck me as odd was the 'power' on the Bigwater rod was light, different than the others which are medium/light to heavy. What's up with that? Then the Ugly Stick Walleye rod is medium/light. My regular spinning rods are all medium and the bend they give are more that enough, especially trying to troll crankbaits lol. You guys have any thoughts on this?
  16. Got 45 in 60' between 8am and 2pm.
  17. Was out Monday. Tried perch then eyes then perch again. VERY slow. Hoping to try again tomorrow. Anyone else been out lately?
