Canuknucklehead
I went out to the weather buoy south of Port Colborne today because I saw a commercial fishing boat laying nets. I assumed its fishing finding equipment was far superior to mine. I assumed wrong, I didn't catch anything. In the past I've always seen fishing nets marked with a pole topped with a flag and floating buoys enabling boaters to easily see where the nets started and ended. This commercial fishing boat marked its nets with a yellow jerry can. It was impossible see from a distance, it was also impossible to see which direction the net was running. 2 Comments Like Comment
Canuknucklehead
I was just advised via Facebook walleye group that the yellow jerry can is marking a wreck.
jimski2
Perch nets set on the bottom are the usual deal. Perch are in higher demand and price while walleyes caught at this water temperature spoil over night in the nets.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United

Canuknucklehead
The commercial fishing boats monitor channels 6 and 8 when laying nets.

jimski2
With the virus situation if you stray into Canadian waters, expect to take medical tests at a cost of over a thousand dollars. They do not mess around now.
