  1. We run it on Lake Ontario, and for dipsey diver fishing it's pretty amazing knowing where your divers are at. One day back in 2016 we noticed a 19' difference switching from an East troll to a West troll. I would also say the speed probe is a nice probe. It will give you a recent speed and an average speed, which is nice on rough days.
  2. Check out Stealth Core at Fish USA. A very successful walleye captain on Lake Erie developed this. We use it on Lake Ontario and love it, and I've tried most other brands. Typically, Walleye don't pull much drag, so I'm guessing 150yds of 30lb braid will work just fine for backing. 25'-50' flouro leader between the core and the lure.
  3. The Humminbird HELIX series is a very good buy packed with a ton of features. They just released MEGA imaging on the new Gen2 series. Not hat you need that. THe Gen1 series can be found at a very awesome price on the internet. Check them out I think you'll be impressed.
  4. Stick with cable. Braid offers two things. 1st there is no cable hum with braid. 2nd less blow back when fishing deep. Generally, very few Walleye are coming off your downriggers. Just stick with cable and you'll have less headaches when the fleas get thick.
