  1. that's a beauty TP........ I'm fishing a 1850 Commander, and you must have a dancefloor in the back of the Authority.....
  2. Anybody ever try slip floats with live bait ....... night or day?
  3. I've been running 3 different Garmin units for the past 10 years and have had minimal problems. They're reasonably priced, easy to use, and present a good image...... I've never used a side scan unit.
  4. I've still got some of the BJ Jettison releases that we used to use in that application.......... Like you said, about 1/2 the time..........
  5. http://www.eriepromotions.com/Sport/WNY/Schedule.aspx Killers seminar info.............
  6. x2 on the electric trolling motor mount..... when trailering, I usually transport the motor in the back of the truck, and then install it just prior to launch.
  7. I've spent lots of daytime hours walleye fishing on Erie, but never done it at night.......... It's intimidating to me, and so it's tough to learn it...... If anyone is ever looking for a fishing partner, please let me know via PM...... I'd be happy to share in the expenses.
  8. I use fluoro a lot for centerpinning..... it's a different application, but bear with me....... I've experimented on several days with fluoro and differing line diameters. Normally, I'm using 6 or 8 lb fluoro for leader material. One day when the "normal" bite stopped I dropped down to 2 lb fluoro leader (that's all I had lighter than 6) and the bite immediately took off again...... problem was I couldn't land any fish..... so they wouldn't hit a 6 lb fluoro leader, but would hit a 2....... so I think they can see "something" even with fluoro...... maybe its light reflection....... but they see something. It's also interesting that the vast majority of walleyes come from behind....... I'm guessing that they don't see much of the front of the blade, only the cup color. Maybe the cup color/shape is way more important than I've been giving it credit for......????
  9. What are the day and time of the seminars?........
  10. Best thing about this show is the seminars......... very good local information....... a great way to spend a January day...... or weekend.
  11. Starcraft...... How was Thursday morning?
  12. Nice report...... thank you for sharing the experience. I've wondered about trying it but have been intimidated by the water....
  13. Thanks for the nice report RD9, and the encouragement...... hopefully there will be some weekend days when the wind won't blow!
  14. I always put them on the backing.......
  15. I've used them with success when adding to lead core...... I don't know that they're any more effective than other lead weights, but they are easy to put on/take off the line.
  16. looks like a great time on a heck of a taxi........ congrats!
  17. I always put it on the backing, about 30'in......... regardless of the number of colors being weighted....... that way things are consistent and can be duplicated with success.
  18. It's a PITA, but I usually pull the dipsey to set the weighted core........... then once the core is out on a big board, I'll reset the diver rod....... it's risky (big mess) to set the weighted core while the diver is in the water....... weight 30' into the backer........
  19. Hello Lost ...... if you read through the Eastern Basin Thread, and the SBH / SP thread, I'm pretty sure most of your questions will be answered...... Those threads talk about where to launch, what to use, what depth to target, methods to apply, and other basic "stuff".....If after that you still have specific questions to ask, bring them up...... but I think 90% of your questions will be answered.
  20. Old Amigo ...... when you launch at the catt, do you use the Hanover launch of the State launch? Do they have enough water this year with the drought conditions?
  21. Lake Erie fleas are a different type, and my experience is that they don't cling anywhere near as bad as the Ontario style......... I think you'll be fine. Where you headed? We may be going in the morning as well........ SP or Dunkirk...... don't know yet.
  22. Sabres Development Camp scrimmage! 5 footers, gusts to 25, I'm thinking not a lot of guys are out......
  23. my experience is it's based on the wind and currents...... surface and subsurface..... so yes it can be different in different areas of the lake.......
