  1. It is July 3rd today and pin head emeralds have appeared at our dock this morning . Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  2. Wind mills on the lake bottoms are very expensive to install and maintain. There are lots of landowners willing to install windmills that help pay the taxes they and their neighbors are assessed with. Installing them in our waters will provide nothing for our land owners but the money will flow direct to the political parasites controlling Albany and New York City. How stupid do they think we are? 3. Read the battery voltage with a meter. Your engine will start on low voltage but your electronics are dead. This could save you some good money. Remember your battery is another year old. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  4. 1 make sure your battery volts are above 10 volts. Most electronics auto shut down with low voltage. If you add another depth and fishfinder, to get a good view you must disable the sonar signal on one unit otherwise a lot of interference is visible from the other machine. The GPS mode is still available on that machine. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  5. Lake Erie generates its own weather at times. Water and air conditions cause a huge difference in wave heights and gaps. Mid summer heats will double wave heights off Dunkirk from shore to mid lake regions. We fished the PWT tournament in Dunkirk one year where wave heights went from one foot to twelve foot high in one hour. TV cameras are not a safe indicator of wave conditions . 8. Rig your pole with a half ounce or3/8 oz sinker, 20# braid and 3 snelled #4 or #6 Eagle Claw hooks from Wal Mart. Tie the hooks direct to the braid line. They are more sensitive to light bites or perch just mouthing the minnows. Swivel snaps, spreaders and other contraptions with heavy sinkers are not sensitive to many perch bites. Set the hooks 4 inches to up to 4 foot above the sinker. Most important is to use only one rod, you catch more perch with one rod since you are not wasting minnows with rods you watch and rebaiting them. Holding your rod is more productive since watching a rod for bites results in missing too many perch bites. Three or more guys in the boat with a lot of bait under the boat hold more traveling schools there. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App

  23. There is Weather Buoy reports from all over the lake. Just add a foot to the wave heights since the buoys never reach the wave height as the wave passes by.
