  1. The breakwater was to be repaired. About the sand that could be handled but it only lasts a couple months. Even with the high lake water level the sand still fills up the entrance. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  2. With no ice this season, dredging could start earlier! Last year walleye season started and still no access.
  3. In the North Sea the installation of Sea Water wind turbines require the construction of a multi million dollar ship as the lack of land sites there is limited. We have thousands of square miles of land sites available here and the equipment to install the towers is already available along with experienced work forces for the construction. To financially justify the new ship for the deep water lake installations is impossible. Unless near shore towers may be possible property owners prefer to keep their view uncluttered. The onshore Canadian towers of which there are thousands now are visible only after nightfall and their flashing red lights can be viewed,
  4. Several sites at Point Breeze RV Park are available. With a boat ramp access to the lake where walleye, bass , perch and Lake Trout are nearby. Seven miles to deep summer thermocline water nearby, spring to fall fishing is here. Your site has boat parking or storage site parking. I am not an agent, just a 40 year resident who enjoys the company of fellow fishermen. Contact [email protected] for information with your phone number.
  5. Several sites are available at the Point Breeze RV Park. Located at Angola New York we have a launch ramp and boat storage on your site or in a storage area. Walleye, Bass, Perch fishing here is excellent all season especially in the hot summer where you are only seven miles to the deep thermocline in July and August. I am not an agent, just a fellow 40 year resident here who wishes to have new blood here to share fishing results. Contact [email protected].
  6. Cell phone batteries die in cold air temperatures. Install a 12 volt cigarette lighter outlet to allow a charging port in your dash board to enable your cell phone battery to have a full charge.
  7. Garmin which started as a navigation company hired engineers from Lowrance and Humminbird to design their units resulting with the best units out there. Now maybe there are better units out there.
  8. too much trouble here
  9. Lake Erie is usually 40% covered by ice this time of year; so far in 2020, there is none
  10. Every warm day now is one less day of ice fishing. Be ready for early open water this year but a lot of floating debris out there with the shoreline damage and rainfall stream damage washed in the lake.
  11. If the winds are high, stay in the harbor. Minnows work well with perch on the bottom and anchored up. Worms catch sheep head. Bass are good with minnows and crabs drifting. Life jackets are good for kids and greenhorns. Check charts for humps and holes for fishing. Watch for boats catching fish, not just packs of boats doing nothing. 13. Use your graph and head straight out to at least 50 foot.
  14. Walleye fishing out of the Cattaraugus. Creek is good this past week but the perch are nowhere to be found. The lake water is going through its turnover now so the perch could be suspended or on the beach. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  15. The high Lake Erie water levels and the gravel blockage of the Smoke Creek into Lake Erie will cause local flooding of Lackawanna streets and neighborhoods. Millions of tax dollars were spent for the Flood Control Project after four disaster floods of City streets and homes in 1936 and three times in the 1950's. The maintenance of the shore line piers to allow this has never happened as the shoreline extends to the end of the channel that the piers were built for. This has reduced the depth of the creeks outlet to a reported six inches. Walleyes are reported to spawn in the gravel there but the loss of millions of dollars to homeowners in soon to come flood outweigh the loss of this area which is man made and the majority of homeowners do not worship the walleyes as a necessary need now.

  17. Maybe outfits like Cabela's/Bass Pro could be involved. After all they are putting more watercraft on the waters every day. With all the money they send to Albany their bean counters could get the numbers our Assembly and State Senate have stashed away for their personal use. Somehow the accounting will come out from the Black Holes in Albany and Washington.
  18. Well just where does all the sales tax money from the boating community go? Where is all the registration money going? Where is all the fuel tax money going? We do not receive highway and bridge taxes that take up a lot of money. Seems the the guys in the suits know how to take it from Albany and Washington. Are we stupid to put up the denials from the legislators?
  19. An oceanographer while discussing the Point Breeze Marina project declared the Sturgeon Point Marina the worst place possible for a marina location due to the sand deposition there. It is a money trap. Eighteen Mile Creek or even Sisters Creek could be opened up with a harbor project by dredging a basin and an off shore channel to the lake.
  20. Billions of “tax credit” dollars were used to “environmental “ clean up of industrial and power plants here and they are all closed now. No heavy industry is ever returning here as more steel mills are shutting down now due to modernization using electric arc furnaces using scrap steel to produce continuous casting process for producing strip mill steel and billets for bar mill production. 21. I am now 76 years old and in the past sixty years there has been no increase in boating access to Lake Erie. Our representatives in Albany and Washington have failed us in consideration of their constituency needs.
  22. It would be an eye opener if the state releases the data on boating and equipment like electronics sales tax collections, registration fees for boats and trailer registration collections and fuel taxes when they claim there is no money available for boat ramps along the sixty miles of Lake Erie shoreline in New York State. This not just sport fishing boats but jet ski boats, sail boats, kayaks and stand up boards. A lot of voters there but no money for community use development here for public use.
  23. Millions of dollars for private industrial development. Nothing for public community use. The guys in the suits know how milk the public treasury while the local aid for the community is nothing.
  24. Before the SBH was opened my father kept our 18 foot boat moored in the Union Ship Canal next to the bridge. Launching was done by the Pennsylvania Ore Dock crane which lifted the boat into the canal and the bridge tender was our watchman. The costs were a share of the blue pike catches. Anyway the canal is ripe for floating boat docks and a launch ramp. The land nearby has been remediated by tax credit use so it parking is accessible. Public safety needs a railing fence to protect falling into the deep ship channel. Larger boats could be launched with a mobile lift crane. If the state can not use the boat registration fees, trailer registration fees and sales tax revenues for the use by boaters then it is time for the money to be returned to the boaters , We also need to consider the sales taxes for fuel, boating safety equipment, electronics , fishing equipment, fishing license revenues generated by boaters and other boaters such as jet skis, sail boating, just pleasure boaters that end up in the black holes called Albany and Washington. The money is there, just fools like us are not doing enoughto get a fair return on it.
