Heading over from Rochester tomorrow to fish for perch. Any advice or recent reports would be appreciated.
Emeralds usually take the day. Traditionally their are schools between 50-65fow straight out of the harbor. From what I have read looks like most are having to search for them. Best of luck.

Thanks for the report. I’m “fishing” the control cables for my kicker right now

Jealous of you guys that are ready, I just got my kicker mounted and am working to run the remote cables, fuel and battery cables. Then on to the FishFinder and good time radio. Should be ready for the STWA derby.

Wonder how muddy she got. Any opinions on fishability tomorrow?
If the waves are manageable my guess is it should be good

Typically they don’t officially open until the 15th. I haven’t been down there to tell if you can launch yet or not. I have heard a few people where able to get out by staying left.

Been a long time since I posed this question. I ended up buying proline 231 at the end of last season and mounted the kicker today on an adventure style bracket. Still have to plumb the fuel, run the control cables and power. But so far so good.

Good luck anyone going out this weekend. I picked up a new ride this year and she is not quite ready yet. Hoping to bring her home on Sunday and get the fish finder, downriggers, kicker motor, etc, etc mounted in time to still enjoy some of the night bite before the STWA derby.

Sounds like boat have been out perching. Anyone been out of SP? Have they dredged?

One boat off of Sturgeon Point anchored up. Ice on the Canadian Shore all the way from Crystal Beach to the river. The American shore has ice well past sub Hamburg. Sturgeon Point has a dock at the ramp

Looking to have my gel coat compounded and buffed. Anyone have any recommendations? I’m thinking to hire someone, seasons coming quick and not sure I will have the time. Thanks.

Seeing as this worked out so well last year, let’s give it a go again.
Stopped by the marina last week, no emeralds in just yet, big sand bar. Ice booms coming out next week, hopefully dredging will start soon.......
SP received a grant for break wall work, haven’t heard when/if that will be started this season.

I recently boat a 1993 Yamaha T9.9ELRR it was starving for fuel and not running correctly. These motors are notorious for fuel pump issues and Yamaha has since developed a pump with a heat sink and cooler for them. I picked up the new pump (around 100 bucks) at Brobiel Marine (Frans a great guy). Replaced the pump and she was running only slightly better and still sucking the filter dry.
I ripped out the connections and fuel line and ran a new line straight to the tank. Same thing.......... I read somewhere that a clogged crank breather could cause this issue. I pulled the breather line (see pic 1) and sure enough it was clogged with a mud wasp nest or something. Cleaned it out, checked inside the breather and other lines. Everything is clear and she is running great now. Hope this helps someone out one of these days.

I ended up going with a adventure marine style bracket with a panther steering bar. Excited to install

Have you tried rebuilding the carburetor? They have some extraordinarily small passages in them you have to use a single strand of copper wire to clean some of them. Also the fuel pumps are prone to going. I had a 1992, that trolled like a champ until I sold my boat in the fall. Wish I had kept it.

Also if you decide to part with yours I may be interested.

Thanks. I saw the ad and spoke to one of the reps. He said only the 15” shafts were on sale. Not sure I trust him...........

I bought a 9.8 Tohatsu from onlineoutboards last year, I would buy another from them. Easy online ordering, shipped to the local FedEx and i picked it up there.
Electric start? Any idea the difference between the Tohatsu 9.8’s and the 9.9’s?

Well I’ve mounted the new FishFinder, have to route my t-ducer cable and clean up the wiring add my good time radio and then she should...... be good for splash down 2019. Sounds like the bite has been good even some guys hitting Walleye’s from shore.
