Drift bag question

Recommended Posts

Anyone with twin i/o have any tips for setting trolling speeds? Do you run 1 or both motors and if it's 1 motor do you run the anchor on the same side in order to keep boat straight?

I have a 21' cobia glass boat with 350 mercruiser now that will actually troll down to slow with the 2 36" bags I have. in  calm water I only use 1 bag to get me down to 1.5 to 2.0. I troll with the wind on rough days using both bags. still have to bump the motor up just a little to run 1.8 to 2.0.

You'll want to run two trolling bags, one on each side. Tie them to a mid or forward cleat so you have enough rope out that the angle into the water isn't too steep. Otherwise, you'll have problems with the bag collapsing. Then make sure you also run a rope from the back of the bag to a stern cleat so they don't go under the boat and get caught up in anything.

If you have power steering with pumps, you might have a difficult time steering with one motor. If that's the case, you might need to let the second motor just idle to help out with steering.

Good Luck!
