From downtown Buffalo to Lake Ontario shorelines the Niagara River is loaded with walleyes, yellow perch, rainbow lake trout to 20 pounds, and brown trout, muskellunge, chinook and coho salmon, bass accessible on foot after parking. The lower gorge below the falls  and power dam areas after a steep hike down the trails to the water edge. Spinning rods, slip bobbers drifted along the shore produce minnows, egg sacs, spinners, plastic tubes and whatever you bring to have the fish eat. A big landing net is advised. A cooler with ice is smart. Lights after dark are smart to prevent falls.
