  1. Like others say this is great site and just starting but I feel that there is a ton of info already. I know I have increased my catch rate from the help on here. I try to post info when as much as I can. Like youngblood said give a little get a little. I feel like most of us are just looking for a starting point being mostly a weekend warrior for me, the fish can move out quickly. I just hope like other sites I have been on this does not get into a pissing match that causes guys to leave. The other difference between here and LOU is that LOU has many charters that post and fish daily. This is a great site and has a ton of great info.
  2. Same problem here, as well as the weekends not being decent weather. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  3. I set up a 7 color last year and used braid as the backing. I used the willis knot. I looked around on LOU and didn't find anything saying to use a different knot for the braid to leadcore. But this has me thinking that I should keep an eye on it, just in case.
  4. I was there Tuesday and the gates were not up yet (at least near the restaurant) but there was lots of activity going on all over. The new launch was not open then either.
  5. Tried today out of sbh, was a little bumpy to start but lake settled down. Fished around Seneca shoal but only got bass, one was a 5 lber. Water temp was 48 degrees on probe. Tried 25-45 ft, sticks. Bass came on bay rats purple with chartreuse all of downrigger 2 ft of bottom. Water was still a little murky. No eyes, probably a dozen boats out. Look like most were after bass. Still launching by the restaurant, was a cluster retrieving as the marina was launching boats every few minutes. Got chased off by rain as I forgot rain gear. Good to get out and get the cob webs cleaned out. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  6. Like fishmaster said 35 ft, assume 5ft per color depending on speed. Can't think of the knot name but put the mono or floro inside the sheath of the leadcore after taking some lead out and use over hand knot on mono side and lead core side. 7. Take the bouy reports and multiply by 2, but pick your days and you should be able to get out. I used to do it in a narrow beam 16 ft. Also eastern end of the lake takes a day to calm down after the wind dies. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  8. That sucks Larry. Hope this time it's fixed for good. Good job Youngblood. I thought about going out as the weather looked good last night but fell asleep after getting up early to turkey hunt with no results. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  9. That's why I don't go out for the night bite much. Last few times there were too many close calls. Even trolling, there were times I came close to other boats and didn't know it as they had no lights or were off to" not spook fish". Hard to not spook then with that many boats. 10. Always a big thanks for all the info larry and others give out freely here. Now if the weather would just cooperate a little more that would be great.
  11. Larry, How does it work bringing fish back across the border? I assume you need a Canadian license and need to follow their limits?
  12. We use them on the eastern end a lot but there are times we are in 60-80 ft or more.
  13. Again with tips and tricks. Good info thanks Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  14. Guess I just assumed that. Sorry Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  15. You guys suck, I'm jealous. But really good job. If I had only gone east out of Sturgeon. Thanks for all your tips and tricks though. [emoji481][emoji106] Talking with a few guys at the dock many that went west didn't get much. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  16. Got out today. Sturgeon point is open. Searched around to the west but never found much. Got a few off evangola so in 55 ft. Didn't see too much other action from the other boats. Thinking I should've gone to the east. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  17. Nice thanks for the info, I'll be out tomorrow and will report Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  18. Braid is definitely the way to go. I had a day last year that you would hit the bottom get the line tight then lower it a hair and when you tightened back up you would feel the fish take it. If you kept it tight nothing they wanted a little slack. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  19. Are you strictly using them for walleyes? If so 18 lb would be fine. I use mine for salmon/trout as well and have 27 lb. Powerpro is good for backing and you can get more on than when using mono for backing.
  20. So is sturgeon open now and are the docks in?
  21. I'd go with 2 5s, 1 3 and 1 7. I have a 5, 7, 10 and 4 that was a 5 but got snagged and lost some when I was too shallow. I use the 5s most of the time. I added the 7 last year and have not used it much. Also depends on how you plan to use them. With a 3 you can add snap weights to get deeper or if you have a 7 or 10 that doesn't mean you need to let out all 7 or 10 colors.
  22. Line, I did the same this year with adding a terrova and ipliot. I did get out to play around with mine but it was not very windy when I was using the spot lock so I'm not real sure on it. If I do use it out there I will use common sense (lacking with some people) and see how it works outside the crowd. I am mostly a weekend warrior so will probably be fighting the crowded ramps this weekend. Elma, great pic I'm sure we all know what the guy is saying too.
  23. It was like that last year as well, guys would anchor right next to you and almost hit you. There was one guy that anchored but left his motor running and his buddy was letting out more line and just about hit a guy in a smaller boat. It's almost as bad as salmon trolling or the night time trolling when the season opens for walleye. But it shouldn't be that hard, just like the idiots that load/unload stuff from their boat on the ramp blocking it.
  24. Trapper thanks for the info. I'm off fullington rd, how about you? Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
