  1. I understand changes are coming to Sturgeon marina, commencing spring 2026. I have been told they are removing one of the rows of 20-foot docks to make room for boats larger than 24 feet. There were quite a few un-rented 20 ft slips in 2025. I have no idea how they intend to get larger boats into the same space a 20-footer used to take up, unless they plan on relocating the 22- and 24-foot docks. That sounds complicated, because the dock pylons are pretty permanent. Maybe they will add more concrete and docks to the inside of the break wall. Seems to be room there. I also heard they are going to add electric service to all of the slips that currently don't have juice to plug in your battery charger, which is the vast majority of slips. I hope that rumor is true. They are currently again asking for a $100 deposit to reserve your 2025 spot, so I assume they will not shut the place down for a year to make changes to layout, but who knows. There is/was supposed to be a town meeting to outline the plan. Anybody know if that happened? Any details to share?
  2. I was in same area Saturday Aug 16th. Caught 6 using only 2 wire dipsey rods with shallow sticks. Started at 6:30 pm and caught the 6th fish right at sunset. Thanks for the report.
  3. dredging is done and marina is open
  4. yes there is a sand bar but no way as bad as previous few years. The rework of the break wall seems to have helped the situation but certainly didn't solve the problem. I have a slip there and they say they will be open by May 15, we shall see. There was a truck and empty trailer there Friday April 25th so I guess you can get thru to lake if your boat is small enough and your draft is shallow. No way my 22 footer is going thru until the dredging is done. There was one section of launch/retrieve dock in the water that Friday.
  5. You launched on Grand Island and drove by boat past the Catt ? Holey moley
  6. Fished Tuesday July 2, 2024 out of Sturgeon Point. Went out to Canadian Line, 62 FOW Ran 2 down riggers, 2 dipseys and a 7 color lead. Ran Renoskys on all lines, got 0 fish in 4 hrs of trolling. Didn't even mark much at all. Trolled N to S on the way in to 52 FOW, still empty screen Will try shallower water next trip out and see what's up.
  7. The marina doesn't open until May 15th. If they dredged it 2 months ago, chances are it will start to fill back in 2 months earlier, causing the marina to close earlier than Oct 15th. Be careful what you ask for. You may get it.
  8. The docks for mooring are NOT in place. The docks for most of the bigger boats are floating sort of kind of near where they belong but they are not attached to the steel pilings. There are no walkways from shore to the docks on any of the docks. The launch and return docks are still in the parking lot. Most of the smaller boat docks over by the hot dog stand are also not in the water. I was there 4/6/2024 around 3:30. Nobody working on Saturday.
  9. It's just like everything else. Lawyers will F up everything, helped along by law suit happy dick wads who can't take responsibility for their own bad decisions.
  10. I just dropped off my payment for a 2024 wet slip (3/21/2024) They said the marina will be open on schedule and the dredging will be completed. Relax and see how it goes. Lots of people are not returning to their 22 ft slips. I had 10 people ahead of me on the waiting list and I got in yesterday. Had my pick of many available slips. I will make regular fishing reports when I get out.
  11. This picture is from end of break wall looking at gas dock on March 5 2024. Sand bar is definitely better than years past, considering the lake was open all winter. Don't know how deep it is from end of sand bar to end of gas dock wall because there is no way to get down there without my canoe or kayak. Looks like a much easer dredge jog, so the wall repair job was not a total waste of money. Fingers crossed!
  12. Here is a thought. Take the 53 million dollars that NYS is giving in prepaid credit cards to border jumpers, and build a new marina on Lake Erie. Then let the border trespassers work there at $5 per hour until their court date comes up. After court sends them back where they came from, bring in a new batch. They can be housed at Gowanda prison that Democrats closed after releasing all the other criminals that used to live there, while they wait on court date. Win Win Win
  13. Well then that was a poop ton of money wasted. Thanks NYS for nothing.
  14. I got on the waiting list for 2024. I have a 22 ft boat. There are 10 people ahead of me on the 22-foot dock. We will see in the spring if marina wall repair has done anything. Fingers crossed!
