  1. Fished out of the Cat today, went out at 7, back in by 9:30. Started at 55 fow, by the time we hit 70 fow had a 2 man limit, all on harnesses. Fish got bigger as we got deeper. Nice off shore breeze. Released 2 shorts, lost 1 at the back of the boat. Getting too comfortable with these easy limits.
  2. Went out of the Cat this morning, got a 2 man limit on riggers & dipsys, 1 perch and 1 huge sheephead. Stayed in the 50's primarily. Saw a stack of perch around 52', was tempted to spot lock for some but it was too hot, wanted to get off. It's too easy now, it can't last.
  3. Fished off the Cat yesterday, in 55' straight out and went out to 73'. By the time we got to 73, we had a 2 man limit in a little over 2 hours. Purple was the best color for us too. Most fish were suspended around 52'. It's easy fishing right now, just about anything works.
  4. Fished off the Catt on Monday, headed west off Center Rd between 78 & 88 fow. Got a 2 man limit on harnesses & dipsies. Riggers about 7'-10' off the bottom. Dipsies on 3 setting at 175' back. Riggers did a little better than the dipsies, & faster to get in the boat. Several of the walleye were over 25", the rest good eaters 17-21. Wasted more than an hour trying to find perch that we had marked earlier, went back to several spots & they had moved. Went out at 8am, back in by 2 pm. Great day on the water.
  5. My boat is still in storage for several weeks, but I saw maybe 40 boats off the Catt today. Could someone give a report on the perch bite?
  6. Went out for perch today off the Catt, found some in 62 fow between the windmill & Evangola State Park. Ended up with 60 on salted emeralds. The guys next to us with live Golden shiners from Miller's did well also. We ran out of bait & headed back to the creek, had an early start to cleaning. It was a calm lake out there today.
  7. We trolled, thought about bottom bouncing but too lazy to change everything over.
  8. This was not my first time out, but the first time I posted this year. We got to Miller's by 645 am & he was out of worms, so we had to run down to the Rez. We started around 53 fow, but it got too crazy with all the boats so we headed out to 56-57. When the wind turned out of the north, we trolled west towards Dunkirk. We had a lot of action. We returned 6-7 shorts, probably about 8 silver bass, 1 perch, a huge sheephead, but we got our 2 man limit in about 5 hours. When we were breaking down, we were dragging 2 that were returned. We caught more on riggers 5' off the bottom, but the dipsies on 3 setting at 130 did well also. Purple, lime green, & copper worked the best. A fun day on the water.
  9. Nice job backinthegame! Where can I buy that grape ape harness?
  10. Haven't seen a lot of reports off the Catt, so thought I'd add one. We fished from 65' to 85 fow from Center Rd. to east of Evangola State Park. Not a lot of marks. Ended up with 3 walleye (19, 21, & 26) & a silver bass. 2 were caught on riggers 5-7' off the bottom around 70 fow on purple/silver harnesses. One was caught on a water melon harness off a dipsy at 110' on a 2 setting. It was a nice day on the water. I hope the schools keep moving east.
  11. Nice haul there yellowpike, nice boat too.
  12. Fished off the Catt yesterday for perch. Started with the pack at 52', not much happening there. Moved out to 71' where we found some action. The marine forecast called for waves 1' or less, but that didn't happen. The Minnkota was struggling to hold us on spot lock. Fished there for 3 hours & ended up with 62. The bite was hot for awhile. Salted emeralds did the trick.
  13. We went out yesterday specifically to get perch, lots of other boats did too. After 2 hours, & trying a lot of spots, we didn't have any & didn't see anyone else get one. I wish I had a friend like Jimdski that gave me a tip. We gave up & switched over for walleye. Fished 3 more hours, put 7 in the box & returned a short. Got a couple bonus perch also. Fished 71-78 fow just east of the Catt, all caught on riggers about 5' off the bottom, black/purple harness with a silver back was the only one that caught fish. Dipsys didn't produce. It was good to be back out on the water again.
  14. Thanks JS, good information.
  15. We fished off the Catt today and set up around 60 fow. By the time we hit 65', we had 3 in the box. A lot of boats were working this area but then headed deeper. We did as well and went out to 80'. Some fish suspended around 50 but the screen was pretty bare today compared to previous outings. Did not catch anything out there so headed back to the 60's. We ended up with 4 in the box, released 2 shorts. One rod with a watermelon harness and a Colorado blade caught all the fish on a dipsy at 85' on a 2 setting. Threw everything in the box at them but they were tight lipped today. The east wind definitely didn't help.
  16. Fished a few hours yesterday a few miles west of the Catt. Picked up 2 and worked hard for them. Marks were hard to find at some depths. Best areas were from 75-78 fow. The 2 we got were suspended at 50', and the screen was loaded. Both came off watermelon harnesses, and going slow. Nothing off the bottom.
  17. Nice catch Stillwater, I'll have to try the evening bite in the next couple of days with these calm conditions.
  18. Nice job JS. We fished off the Catt yesterday also, in the same area as JS, 75-80 fow. We had a lot of action, some silver bass, 2 sheephead, 2 perch and 7 walleye. 2 were over 26". Downriggers with harnesses about 2' off the bottom caught all the walleye. Dipsys on 2.5 setting at 115 caught the sheephead & silver bass. Lost a big walleye fighting hard at the boat just out of reach of the net. Trolled about 1.5 to 1.9 mph. A lot of boats were deeper than us. A fun day on the water and encouraging to get some walleye
  19. I think it could work, although you wouldn't know when something hit it. As long as you check bait often, you just might pick up a straggler. It never hurts to have an extra line in the water.
  20. Fished off the Catt yesterday (Saturday). Started in 55 where we saw a decent screen. Eventually went out to 75 for where most of the boats were. From 65 to 75 didn't see any marks but picked one up at 65. Went back to 55-60 where we got 3 more. Largest was 24". All were caught on riggers using harnesses, nothing on the dipsys. Trolled slow, mostly between 1.0 & 1.2. Caught at least 10 shephead, some were huge. Don't know what's going on there. Because of winds, this was my 1st walleye outing this year. Even Miller the bait man said guys just haven't been out.
  21. Went out Sunday off the creek. Stopped at Miller's to buy worms & he said a lot of guy were doing good in the 70's, so we started in 71 fow. The breeze was out of the SE so we trolled with the waves. By the time we hit 80', we had 3 eyes, so just kept working that same area. Ended up with 9, lost 2 on the fight, and threw back one short. All fish caught on harnesses. Riggers down 61-65 fow, just at or above the thermocline. Dipsys on 2.5 setting back 165'. The lake laid down for about 2 hours, but a ENE breeze started about 1pm, and by 2 it was 2-3 footers, so we packed up and headed for the creek. Made it home to watch the rest of the game.
  22. Fished yesterday off the Catt. Got a late start, launched about 1:30 pm. Wind out of the SE going out, found some good screens between 75-80. Riggers 5-7' off the bottom, and dipsys on 2.5 setting back 150' worked well. Harnesses with copper backs caught all fish. Winds picked up around 5:30 and cut our day short. Waves now a solid 2, some close to 3 footers. Made for a long slow ride back in a 18' boat but worth it with 9 fish in the box between 19-22". (Waves a foot or less lol)
  23. You got your wish, that's the forecast for Saturday (for now). But as fisherman know, it will be wrong. But, I'm heading out
  24. Old news but fished Saturday straight off the Catt in 80-90 fow. Got a 2 man limit, riggers down 50-60, 10 fish were caught off harnesses and 2 off sticks. Chartreuse, red & purple all worked. Speed between 1.8 & 2.6. Dipsy's on 2 setting at 110-130. Saw a lot of baitfish & perch on the graph.
  25. Way to go ws6rufus, I think I'll try the deeper water. Thanks for the report.
