  1. Starting a new thread for the upcoming 2023 season. Always enjoy seeing the pics and reading the success stories fishing for perch and walleye out of or around the Catt. Stay safe, everyone !!
  2. Fished a few hours Monday morning out of the Catt also and managed 3 nice walleyes. We were in 50-60 fow and caught one on a stick-bait, out 8 colors, and the other two came on a worm harness, off a downrigger, down 45'. Caught a few sheepshead, white bass, and two small perch. Marked a lot of fish both up high and on the bottom but they just wouldn't go. Agree that it was a nice day to be out there !
  3. Fished out of the Catt. today, it was a very choppy morning but we managed. Sporadic marks out in 60 FOW and everything we tried didn’t interest them. The lake finally settled down and we moved out to 80 FOW and it was like night and day, lots of fish sitting between 60’ and the bottom and we were able to get 7 nice walleye on the downriggers down 70’ over 80’ of water using worm harnesses. We stayed between the Catt. and maybe a mile or a mile and a half West. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  4. Sorry about that ! We launched out of the Catt. and stated straight out front in 80 FOW. Worked our way West a few miles, I’d say not quite the midway between Dunkirk and then turned back East. For about an hour and a half or so the lake picked up and we had to run West and troll back East with the waves until it laid back down again. Saw several guys about midway drifting but not sure how they were doing. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  5. Was out there Tuesday also with pretty much the same results, fished 80-85 FOW as that is where all the marks seemed to be. 10 colors out using stick baits caught us the fish with pink, white, and chartreuse appealing in the early morning and once those shut off, were switched over to blue and silver sticks.
  6. J. Sparrow and Ciscokid, way to adapt and overcome !! Wouldn’t expect anything less from J. Sparrow. Nice job !! Sent from my iPad using Lake Erie United
  7. Thanks ! My father and nephew were out there yesterday in the same waters from 8-1pm and only managed to get 2, using 10 color and long-A's so I thought it may have been their speed but they were 1.8 - 2.1 also. I'm sure they'll figure it out next time.
  8. What speed are you guys running ? Sent from my iPad using Lake Erie United
  9. I typically fish Lake-O for salmon and decided to try Lake Erie with my father for walleye in his new to him boat. Last Wednesday we headed out of the Catt. and motored out to all the other boats in about 80 FOW, I brought my 10-color lead core, a few brown trout rods, and all the necessary spoons, sticks, and worm harnesses since we do fish for walleye up near Henderson, on Lake-O. I was reading some of the Erie threads about using snap weights and thought we would give it a try, with that being said, this is the where I was totally at a lost. We sent the 10-color out with a Bomber Long-A stick and after I set up the other two rods with snap weights and trolling at 2.0 - 2.2 mph. I did so by letting out 50' of line, snapped a 1 oz weight on the line, and then sent out another 100' of line thinking I will be fishing my stick bait in about 50 FOW. Well, once we found the fish, the 10-color rod kept firing and we were unable to keep it in in the water for more than 5-10 minutes before it landed another, the other two rods with the snap weights never fired all day. I tried different sticks, spoons, and worm harnesses and still had no luck getting them on fish, the only thing that landed ALL our fish was the 10-color. Was there something I was doing wrong with setting up the snap weight rods ? I also tried to vary the length of line I sent out after attaching the snap weight but that didn't help either. This totally baffled me as to why these two rods never moved all day ?
