  1. Yesterday the lake was calm and flat and the GPS was almost identical to down speed. It did vary a little depending on the current.
  2. I would try speeding up. I caught all my fish yesterday at 2.5 mph at the probe not surface GPS speed.
  3. I managed to pick up 3 steelhead on sunday out of barcelona while trolling for eyes. We were straight out in anywhere from 100 to 80 ft. Caught 2 on riggers and one on a dipsey. All 3 hit stickbaits.
  4. I would never have thought to try leads that short but I will now. Thanks.
  5. Maybe try some deeper cores. We caught 9 out of our 11 fish yesterday on 7, 8 and 10 color lead with stickbaits. The 8 and 10 color catching the most and biggest fish, a 9 lbs two 8 lbs and a 7 lbs. The rest were smaller eaters. I have not caught a fish yet on my riggers this year. What lead are you guys running on your riggers? mine have been set at around 50ft back, which usually works for me.
  6. I got there at around 7am and still found a spot near the launch. Others were parked near Lakeshore Drive behind demetri's. The problem will be the idiots that will park behind your boat trailer knowing that you have to get out of there sometime. We saw a few of those when we pulled out at around noon.
  7. Caught 9 keepers this morning and threw 4 back. West of Dunkirk in 65 to 70 ft of water. 8 color and dispeys 180 back on 3 setting were working today. Only fished from 8 to 1130 AM.
  8. Lowrance hook 7 - USED I have a used Lowrance Hook 7 that I bought earlier this year. The unit is used but in like new condition and comes with a sun cover, transducer, mounting bracket and a Navionics card. I have misplaced the manual that comes with it. $325.00 Shipped to your door. Call or text (716) 673-6614.
  9. I have found the iwindsurf app to be very accurate in predicting the wind speed and direction. A good rule of thumb is that for every 5mph of wind you can expect 1 foot of wave height.
  10. Open water trolling? Anyone open water trolling on Chautauqua yet? Just wondering if its worth the drive since fishing Erie is out of the question most days lately due to the wind.
  11. There is a cleaning station at the Dunkirk launch that grinds up the carcasses when your done. Not sure where they go after that.
  12. I would not clip the board to the leadcore itself. I heard it will wear through eventually and ruin it. I have segmented the leadcore like you described and it worked well. I only spliced In a 10ft or so pics of mono in between the segments.
  13. I use improved clinch on both leadcore sheath and mono leader for connecting to the swivel. Without a swivel I just use uni to uni on both lines and have never had one fail.
  14. Use the small Spro swivels, #8 I think, 50 lb test.
  15. I run anything up to 10 color on them with no problems at all. I modified mine like shown on the Bloodrun Tackle website as soon as I bought them. I have not run them "stock" and don't know if there is a big difference between them.
  16. I'm not sure what you mean but you don't use a dipsey diver with leadcore.
  17. At least 40ft or more. 7 color should be down 35 ft or so at around 2mph
  18. I think the easiest way is to put the chart on the screen and then hit the waypoint button. This will bring up a new waypoint and you can just highlight the coordinates and change them there and then save. I think that this way might be quicker.
  19. I believe that you first need to go to: 1. settings. 2.Waypoints ,routes and trails 3. waypoints 4. new then highlight the coordinates and enter your own then save. I don't have mine in front of me and could check later on if this doesn't work.
  20. Exactly what sparrow said. You have to hold the "N" button until the circle around the "N" disappears. Mine would not hold a line if the circle was showing, mine would continue to try and steer towards the north. It drove me nuts until I figured it out a month later.
  21. I usually put the front bow mount on 3 or 3.5 to steer and use the kicker for propulsion, it works great. I will lock the heading on the trolling motor and that way you can deploy lines and net fish without worrying about being spun around or blown off course by the wind. The batteries on my 24v terrova will last at least 8 hours this way. I have never run out of juice on the water.
  22. I used a can of flex seal and was able to put 4 or 5 coats on my 2 fish weights.
