Burger
Simple question: Does lure rating apply to sinkers also? I have a 7’ ML rod rated for 8-14lb line and 1/4-1/2 oz lures. However, I want to use this to fish the lower niagara drifts and would need to attach a 1oz pencil lead. Granted, I would not be actually casting, just bottom bouncing/vertical drifting from a boat. Please provide some input! greatly appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
mr 580
You might consider checking the educational seminar schedule at the Greater Niagara Fishing Expo January 17 to 19 - lots of good speakers and a number of offerings on fishing the Niagara. Most of the seminars are free with the purchase of a show ticket.
Reelguy
Don’t worry about the lure weight rating. You might get away with that ML but most use a M to MH fast action. You want a sensitive tip and a good back bone. With a fast tip you’ll be able to feel the bottom well and still have a good hook set.
