Took a seminar over the weekend taught by Mark Romanak. Found out if you put your crawlers in ice water they will swell up and get bigger. Helps keep you boat clean. You throw them out at the end of the fah

Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Erie United Mobile App

We put our worm in an old insulated lunch box.  We take them out of the dirt & put them in the box with water & ice. No dirty mess & they stay nice & firm.  At the end we put them back in the dirt & in the refridg.  works great!

Money for dredging should come from the state. We can't afford to lose a launch site. There aren't enough on Erie as it is.

I think we have 8 launches on Erie & I believe Ontario has 30+  but they do have a longer shore line. I think there should be a launch at Evangola St. & Lake Erie  parks. Every thing is there except a launch!  Road ,parking, lights, restrooms.

  3. Shinintimes, I don't think that is a bad question. I wonder that myself!  I am sure it is in some one's pocket.  One has to wonder what happened to all their launch money & the money they got from the state & fed. gov't. already??  As far as digging it by hand I don't even know if that is feasible at all. I was sort of kidding when I wrote it , but maybe if there were enough people it could be done? I would think for every shovel full taken out 2 would come back in.  Maybe the state would take it over with some of Cuomo's Buffalo Billion!

  4. Sturgeon Point (SP) 2017

From what I hear the sand bar across the opening of SP(only about a3 ft. opening) is pretty much closed off due to the sand. With the town of Evans being bankrupt, SP will most likely not be open very early if at all in the spring of 2017 having no $$$ to dredge it out. I am thinking we early perch guys may have to get on the bar & dig it out ourselves!  We will have to all get together with our shovels on a day & dig us a 4-6 ft. wide trench across the bar!  Any thoughts?

Tried again out of the Cat today. I scanned and fished 4 miles from the Cat east. Looked anywhere from 50-60' Just some scattered small bait schools on the bottom, a few bass marks and zero perch.  I have another theory about the perch schools.  It involves 7 kilometers of gill nets at Port Abino.

Gill nets, go to u-tube & check out "Lake Erie yellow perch gill nets out of Port Stanley"  video.  And that's only 1 net off 1 boat!

I was very surprised at how well everyone co-existed in those small, tight groups of boats.  Well...... most everyone.

I think most times everyone in the tight groups tend to know each other. It's when the stranger tries to sneak in when people get upset.  But it is fun to watch & hear at times. lol
