  1. Independence Day 6:00am tll 11:00am along the fence 50-65ft. 10 keepers 16"-25". Mostly on harnesses but a couple on stickbaits 35ft to right on the bottom. Speed 1.5-2.0mph. 1 dink, 1 white bass and 15 sheephead☹️
  2. Saturday 7/31/21. Bottom bounced 5 rods from 50ft-60ft 6:30-11:00am along the Canadian border. (1) <15" walleye, (6) sheepshead & (1) goby. Nice day on the water, but no walleye. One boat at launch got 3 and another zero. Lots of traffic.
  3. 6:00am-11:30am. 50-60ft along US/CAN. Started with all harnesses, 4 color - 10 color, got 3 within 1/2 hour on 7,8 &10 colors and then it died off. Switched to all stick baits. & got 2 more. 3 of the fish were nice size +24" & other 2 fish about 20". No color worked better than another. Nothing on downriggers.
  4. Trolled in front of windmills Sat 6:00pm-9:30pm in 25ft-45ft. 3 planer boards per side with stickbaits from 10ft to the bottom. 1 walleye! We did see a substantial amount of fish on the screen the entire time.
  5. There aren't any docks, I heard April 1st for the docks. The water level is low, you either have to have hip boots or jump down from the wall.
  6. Sat 3/27. Left the Catt at 1:45pm with low hopes after everyone leaving the launch got skunked. Burned up a tank of gas lookin for perch past Sturgeon Point and found none. Fished till 6:45pm. The only other boat at the launch when we left, picked up 10 in front of Evangola from 5:45-6:45pm, he said not a bite until then. Our day was saved by a giant Catfish caught in 60ft, West of Port. Alot of fun on 8lb test. It was a cold but smooth and sunny day on the lake.
  7. Launched from the Catt Sunday about noon, looked for perch all the way to Sturgeon Point while dodging icebergs and breaking the floating ice sheet. Found a few small schools in 55ft off Evangola but could'nt buy a bite. Drove back west of the Catt toward Dunkirk and found HUGE schools in 60ft but no bites. Left at 5:00pm. Did'nt see any rods moving around us and everyone we talked to at the launch also got Skunked. Hopefully better luck this weekend. There we alot of boats out, all parking spots at State launch full.
  8. State Launch is free now, also without docks. You will have to use the "youngest guy jumps out to get the truck" technique but its not that bad. Make sure you have your motor/outdrive tilted up until you get away from shore, it is very shallow without the docks. Good Luck fishing!!!
  9. I saw very few walleye on the fishfinder while searching for perch. I think most have headed west.
  10. Fished for perch 12:30-5:30pm after the Epic failure of the weatherman. Was supposed to be 65 and 7% chance of rain. It rained in varying intensity until 2pm and never got above 55. Searched for perch in the 3ft rollers from 50 fow to 80 fow. Found some random small pods in 70 fow but could not find any schools. Ended up with 20 perch. About 20 other boats getting tossed around with us. Good Luck to anyone braving the cold this weekend!
  11. Went with my buddy from 12-530pm today. First tried to find perch with no luck. Plenty of walleye on the fishfinder in 75-85 fow. Got one on 10 color black/silver Bayrat and lost one at the boat on 8 color orange tiger Bayrat. Weatherman forecast 1ft or less and 5mph winds. We had 3ft waves all day and 4ft at the end of the day. It was tough day for us. Everybody we spoke to at the launch when we launched and retrieved had a bad day. We did see Captian Joe Fonzi cleaning a huge pile of perch when we were leaving.
  12. I place mine on the backer right at the knot where it meets the lead core. 3oz out 50ft should add another 20ft of depth at 1.5mph.
  13. Fished west of Port in front of windmills Sat from 2:00pm till 6:45. The screen was loaded with fish the whole trip. Also saw occasional small schools of perch. Started in 70fow & went as deep as 95fow with 4 harness rods and 3 stick baits. Picked up (2) 20 inch fish on harnesses in the 1st hour then it was dead from 3-5pm. Tried all stick baits for an hour with no takers. Switched to all harnesses and started picking at them. Got (7) 20 -24 inch fish from 5:00pm till 6:45pm. 8 color and seven color were best but also got one on a ten color and a rigger at 65ft. Got (9) but it was frustrating considering the amount of fish on fishfinder. Got a freakish looking football female that apparently did not release her eggs this spring. Lake got angry at 6:30pm & went from 1-2ft to 4ft real quick which made for a slow, wet ride back to port.
  14. That was last October out of the Catt. Emerald Shiners are ALWAYS the best for Perch if you can get them. Fatheads and worms work OK if you can't get Emerald's. Salted Emerald's work well if live ones are not available.
  15. This is what schools of perch look like on my Lowrance HDS at 83kHz. 100 of them ended up in my cooler 🙂
