  1. Fished west of the creek today from 65 - 80 fow. We ended up with 17 walleyes, plus a couple perch. Fish were caught bottom bouncing, off downriggers, and 8 & 10 color lead core. If you plan to fish wormharnesses take plenty of worms. The silver bass were also biting and we went thru over 40 nightcrawlers. Once we were out of worms we tried stickbaits but only managed a perch and a short walleye (our 4th). Overall a great day of fishing.
  2. Slow morning for us yesterday. We ended up getting 6 bites and landed 5 between 630 and 1030. We marked a lot early but then they disappeared from the screen. We didn't start catching until about 830 and unfortunately had to quit early due another obligation. Ours were an even mix of bottom bouncing, down riggers and leadcore. All on harnesses with no dominant color.
  3. Fished out of the Catt this morning. Got 5 and lost one at the boat. Also got 4 perch. Everything was in 72 - 78 fow a little west of the creek. Best action came on 7 color lead core. Watermelon harnesses. Kind of strange as we got 2 in our first 15 min (started around 630) and then the other 4 bites were spread out over the next 3 and half hours. Had to quit early due to other obligations.
  4. Slow morning out of Barcelona this morning. Fished everywhere from 60 - 105 fow. Only managed 4. Three came of the downriggers and one on the bottom. Watermelon harnesses took 3 of our 4.
  5. Thanks. So what are they targeting? Perch?
  6. Last time out of Barcelona we saw a commercial fishing boat setting out nets in 80-85 fow right near where we were catching walleyes. This was deeper and further west from the area marked with orange flags (which I've been told are perch nets). I thought the commercial walleye fishing industry in NY waters was bought out years ago. Does anybody know about this? Do they use gill nets or something different?
  7. There's still a decent bite going on in Barcelona. Got a two man limit today with fish scattered from 65 - 83 fow. Most came off the bottom but 4 came off the riggers at 45 ft. All came on worm harnesses and no color was dominant.
  8. I can't help but think it has to do with water clarity. The last 2 times out the bite was great until 9am. Once the sun was high in the sky they all but stopped. The early morning bite is always better, but it usually slows down a little more gradually. This is a hard stop. Might be a coincidence, but maybe not.
  9. Fished out of Barcelona again this am. Got 6 before 9 and then only 4 between 9 and 4. They were a little deeper today as most of our fish came in 75 fow. 7 of them came off the bottom and 3 came off downriggers. Watermelon, black/ chartreuse, and red/copper harnesses today. Also got one short and a perch.
  10. $15 to launch??? I'd like to see the marina stay open, but $15 is outrageous.
  11. Fished just west of Barcelona harbor this morning in 58 - 80 fow. Got 6 from 8-9 and only one more after that. All of ours came right off the bottom and 5 of our 7 in 65 fow. Watermelon and black/chartreuse. Thanks to everyone for the info. It helped a lot.
  12. Got out this morning and marked quite a few fish spread out from 65 - 80 fow. Just couldn't get them to bite. Ended up with 4, all suspended around 60 fow. Talking to a few guys at the fish cleaning table, the perch are starting.
  13. Got 11 this afternoon/evening in 72-80 fow. All on harnesses run very close to the bottom.
  14. Fished 4 hours this am in 60 fow off Sturgeon Point. Got 2 in the first 15 minutes and then they shut off.
  15. Is anyone catching near Buffalo or SP? The bite in Dunkirk has cooled off (for me at least) and I thought I might try our end of the lake again.
  16. It could be the timing. I know a lot of guys catch fish mid-day, but I have my best luck the first 2 and last 2 hours of daylight. I'll be out tonight around 6:30. Good luck.
  17. Got a 2 man limit tonight in just over 2 hours in 70 fow. Half came off the bottom and half were suspended. Used 4 different color harnesses and all caught fish. A really great night to be on the water.
  18. We were out Mon and Wed evening for about 4 hours each night and only caught 4 & 3. All came from worm harnesses on the bottom in 40-52 fow. Suspended baits did not get a single bite. What a difference a year makes. Based on the screen I think there are plenty of fish, they just aren't biting. May head west this weekend in search of better numbers.
  19. Got out for a few hours this evening. Started behind the windmills in 35-37 fow. Tons of fish on the screen, but didn't catch anything. Moved out to 45-47 fow and got 6 in about two hours. Unfortunately the sheephead were out a little deeper too, but if that's the price to catch walleyes we'll live with that.
  20. Thanks for the posts. We got out a little after 6pm and got 2 in the first ten minutes in 40 fow and then nothing for 2 hours. I saw your posts and moved into 30 - 35 fow of smokes creek and got 5 in 45 minutes.
  21. Got out Sat am and only managed one fishing the windmills. Is anybody getting daytime fish?
  22. Last weekend they were still out in 66 fow. They may have started moving in a little, but I'd start there with at least two lines on the bottom. Good luck.
  23. Got out yesterday afternoon/evening and got 11 in 63 fow on wormharnesses slow trolled (3 on the bottom/1 suspended). Is anyone catching any fish in shallower water closer to the harbor?
  24. Got two man limits Sat morning and Monday evening. 61 fow drifting worm harnesses right on the bottom
