  1. Very cool picture, Fishkiller! It is amazing how visible the fluoro is in that picture...never would have thought that would have been the case! --Joe
  2. Under 100! I was going to make countdown rings (like we used to make for holidays), but decided this will suffice: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20170527T00&p0=422&msg=2017+NY+Inland+Musky+Season&font=cursive&csz=1 BlueEye: Does the forum have a way to create a counter that we can have built-in instead? These dates are extremely important!
  3. Don't forget to check your down temp and speeds, Meangreen. They can be a killer to your garage trolling pattern!
  4. Most of the time I launch at Prendergast. It is a great launch for the summer and would have no problem handling your size boat. I find that it can be too shallow to use in the late fall, so I normally switch over to Long Point. Long Point is no doubt the nicest launch on the lake, but you have to pay an entrance fee to get into the park during the summer. These fees are waved if you have an empire parks passport. --Joe
  5. Sorry to hear that, Charlie. Very scary to hear...especially since I have Lowrance in my boat! --Joe
  6. I think Tony's reel repair (in Orchard Park, NY - 716-662-5692) fixes Humminbird units...if he does not fix Lowrance, he may know someone that does? --Joe
  7. Seriously...this has been some bad cabin fever!!! I have even thought of attending an AA meeting to see what they would do if I just started talking about muskies. --Joe
  8. Haha. Very true. I just need to get the itch off of my back! --Joe
  9. Are the water levels high on the lake? I only like fishing it when it is at least 30ft above normal ;) --Joe
  10. I started counting down... Now that the football season is over, I woke up wondering how many more days there are until the NY Inland Musky season opens...this is going to be a very long 110 days!!! --Joe
  11. Thanks for the ideas, Lineman. I have always used toothpicks to hold harnesses (and musky leaders) on the noodle...I am sick of getting stabbed by them when I am not paying attention! I will have to give the golf tees a try. --Joe
  12. CSH - I do not have these...sorry. I saw them at the Niagara show. The picture is from the Amish Outfitters website... The pins they are referring to in the product description are what is used to hold the loop of the walleye harnesses in place. You will get 24 pins (they literally looked like a long staple that you pushed into the foam)...12 per foam board. You can also buy more of these pins on their website. --Joe
  13. Lineman - Is this what you were referring to? The Amish Outfitters Crawler Harness Caddy? https://amishoutfitters.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=99&zenid=5b57dd64d8262cf515737984af4f0137 --Joe
  14. I have a crazy theory that if i work hard during the winter, I will not think about fishing as much and will have extra time during the season to fish more...this theory does not work at all! Time to find a new approach --Joe
  15. T-Trophy, I am interested in his ghost blades. While I am just getting into walleye fishing, I noticed in the corner of his booth some prototype mag-sized (10, 12, etc) ghost blades that he will be painting up for Musky inline bucktails. It will be interesting to see how they pull and if they will still attract the toothy critters like a pair of mag-colorado blades effectively does! I need to also look more into his custom painting. I would love to send in a box of lures for him to paint! --Joe
  16. I was really impressed with Angler's Avenue. Their selection was perfect for the show! I came right home and bookmarked their website for future purchases! --Joe
  17. So what did everyone end up getting at the show? I picked up a Legend Plow custom painted by Dutchfork Custom Lures. I am kicking myself for not getting more of his custom work...the entire table looked amazing! --Joe
  18. Cabin fever has set in pretty bad for me...I cannot wait for this weekend to attend!
  19. Very cool. I know one thing I would want as a checklist is everything needed at the beginning of the year to make my boat "water ready"...as in what would be checked by Coast Guard if they boarded my boat while I am on the water.
  20. I have really enjoyed painting mag-sized blades the past couple years for Musky fishing. I am thinking it might be time to try my hand at the smaller sizes to see how they will come out and if they will be effective. Personally, I like the idea of multiple colors on a blade incase a fish is dialed into a specific color on a given day (giving me a better chance at triggering that bite). The first attempts include a Purple/Blue/Silver pattern and a yellow/copper/and brown pattern. While I really like my "Musky Stripes", I am not 100% sold on the walleye ones yet...maybe I just need to shrink them a little bit and then they will be better... I also attached images of some of the Musky blades I have been painting up.
  21. Good stuff, Wishinfishin. I have been using Seaguar's Red Label fluorocarbon for the past couple years. I especially like the little wear I have been seeing around the clevises. I aim to try out Blood Run when I finish off my current spools of the Seaguar.
