  1. A few years back we had a big shortage of emerald shiners showing in the spring. But Presque Isle Bay in Pa was top to bottom emerald shiners. I think I it is more water temperature related.Once Ice Boom is removed minnows will follow Ice flow into the river. That same year Buffalo River was packed with emerald shiners at 42 degree water and Niagara River was mostly void at 37 degrees.

  2. Yes they did get a grant for 1.2 million but to repair existing walls and dredging. This just another temporary fix wall needs an extension to protect channel from sand movement. Also why does the NYSDEC make them deposit the dredged sand where the West /SW wind pushed waves just push it back into the channel?
When they dredge Dunkirk the material is taken way out into Lake Erie.To really fix and reconstruct Sturgeon Point Cuomo needs to cough up 25 million!

    Good news just heard
Evans recent a 1.2 million dollar grant to repair the harbor

  3. Trolled North Gap 42.1 degree water,up Buffalo River 35.8 degree water, across Lake from outside North Gap departure buoy area to South Gap 41.2 degree water, then at South Gap 40 degree water temp.Marked most fish on deep structure in South Gap.Had rod go slack and then bend over hard, but DOD not get to the rod fast enough ,off as fast as on.No other hits for my boat. One boat caught a 42" muskie early morning, I did not hear of any others caught in the Harbor. They are there and have to go on the feed bag soon!

  4. Trouble was is that they put some rigs through a drive through of road ways to see where one would hit curbs if going at posted speeds, not one pulled boat hit a curb.Only place that was close was leaving parking lot turning onto departure road, there they ground away the curve. Now we can only hope that during busy times they will control how many rigs they allow to tow into launch ramp area at any one time.Never should let in anymore then Open Launch Ramps, have others wait in line behind pay booth. There were times that a dozen rigs were trying to launch at the same time, bottle necking anyone trying to retreive, because they launched on all ramps at same time.
