  1. Maybe a pic tomoro w/a fat perch on the end of the line Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  2. I tend to agree with all your comments... I had a guy on my boat last spring. we were doing well over deep water, but he would toss the smaller perch out "as seagull bait". which I didn't think was right either. I showed him, that when you first set the hook you can typically tell if its a smaller fish (especially compared to the slobs we were getting), just real that small fish up slowly....even stop & pause for a few seconds half way up. By doping so, their bladder isn't out of their mouth and they can easily be released to become fatties later on. I blieve this is good advice for any of us "conservation minded" fishermen. Heck I relased a few giant hens last weekend so they could spawn!!! Ya gotta give some back sometimes
  3. I will run a 2nd rod w/egg sinker (maybe 3/4 oz) on main line, then a barrel swivel, then 3 foot fluor leader, light wire gold Aberdeen hook..lightly lip hook minnow, drop to bottom ,raise up a few cranks and place in rod holder in a fairly horizontal position..rod is a very soft, light tip. Just keep an eye on that tip while holding/working perch rig..it catches a Lotta perch, in any lake deeper water Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  4. Ditto...same here...I also like diff colored tinsel flies on the end w/emerald shiner Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Erie United Mobile App

  11. I've run some "lighted" slipbobbers at night with jumbo leeches in the spring with some success. I prefer (and do better) casting or trolling sticks at night. As King mentions sight fishing... I have done this for years on a couple favorite smaller bodies of water. I always called it "jacking eyes". Theres some finesse with selecting the right light. Too bright and their gone in a flash. if you are trying to learn "spots" on a prticular body of water that the eyes prefer, using the light is a big advantage. If I know the areas, I now prefer to just fan cast the area w/o spooking them with the light
  12. I would like to see you guys weigh in on this one please. How many of you are utilizing side scan technology on your units to locate walleyes? Does it work well in our deeper NY water? If you do, how would you rate it's necessity on your boat? "Wouldn't leave home without it"? Or seems to help sometimes? I don't have it yet myself, and am curious what your thoughts & experiences are. Thanks for your feedback Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  13. Lost..not list Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  14. RD..have you ever tried running 3 way swivel rigs w boards to keep your sticks tight to the bottom & in the zone? Seems like maybe less gear may be list that way, but still near bottom Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Erie United Mobile App

  16. Perch Page-Spring 2017 If you Perch hounds are like me.... your pretty new perch rigs are all tied, fresh line down, reels lubed etc. Just chomping at the bit to get out there & whack em. Looking at my records from last year, my first trip to Erie perchn was March 26th...and whatta day it was!!! Has anyone been out yet? We have been "picking away" at em around the finger lakes a little. Nothing crazy.
  17. I've got the 36V.... I think 112lbs thrust... it will run all day if its not too windy. So far, I mostly use it perch fishing with the spot lock, but plan on working it into my trolling this year
  18. Hey King....are you guys typically only catching those say 2-4 pound males in the spring @ night? or can you also tie into some nicer fish? just curious....any eye is a great eye
