Pike winds turn the walleyes on. Surface waves increased the dissolved oxygen and the fish metabolism is increased resulting in increased digestion with the feed rates turning on. Flat lakes and bluebird sky drive the fish deep and farther away from your boat’s track.

Three boats out to. Center Road this morning. 74 foot and deeper, screen was full of large fish. Only one walleye landed. Bluebird sky???

When was the last time you were out that way and marked fish?
Word has it that the migrating school was around Erie, Pa last week.  
Have you heard (or seen on your screen) anything to back that claim up?

Jim,
After reading what I wrote, I decided to edit it by adding that I don't want to
come across as antagonistic....I was referring to the claims of the fish being 
West of Dunkirk and Barcelona, not referring to what you may have marked.
 

Perch nets set on the bottom are the usual deal. Perch are in higher demand and price while walleyes caught at this water temperature spoil over night in the nets.

Center Road straight line to the Canadian border has been good for years with the high water temperatures. All the eastern basin walleyes stack up there when they hit the colder deep water.

Water temperatures are important. But currents above the river are yielding walleyes after dark now. The sunshine drives the fish deeper.

Three boats three days under bluebird sky resulted in one walleye caught. From the condoes to the reservation windmill. With the high water temperatures Try fishing west of Silver Creek now.

Try to 75 foot even. Perch school up to ten foot deep out there when the lake is cooked up.

Also try surface water trolling with side planers and worm harness . Yesterday plenty of fish at 65 to 75 foot down, just not taking.

Water temperatures are now like August this year without ice. Start at 85 foot from the Catt to the PA line. Any where from 65 to deeper should. Find big walleye feeding on smelt schools, small perch and other good sized feeders. Going too deep you may run into 0 oxygen waters with
No
Fish at all.

If the surface temperature is above 70 degrees, start looking in 65 foot of water.

The hot weather has warmed Lake Erie up earlier than usual. Deeper water show fish top and bottom now. The bottom schools are not all perch and could be smelt.

Yesterday off Point Breeze, no hits near shore. Went out to 61 to 75 foot is water, plenty of fish out there on the screen. Only landed two, 24 and 25 inches . About the same as other reports, cameo in for minnows and only one perch although a lot of fish on the bottom of the screen. One walleye on a board with a stickbait. The other on a worm harness off a rigger.

East winds turned the warm water back to Ohio. Biggest fish coming at Barcelona. Lots of boats launched there.

NE and E winds blew all the warm surface water back to Ohio. Cold water upwelling replaced it. Some day the SW winds will return the warmer water again and fishing will return.

After last nights blow and continuing now, the eastern basin surface water temperature reached 65 degrees F. this morning. Usually this does not happen to July 1st but it happened early now.

Jets keep the walleye lures up in the target zone during slow downs, turns, stops while trolling. They are good to go to while the surface water temperature is below 65 degrees F.

Small Boat Harbor is a nightmare now. It would be a good idea to put more ramps there now.
