  1. Figure it’s a good time to start a new thread for the new year. After spending the previous season at the Catt, prior to that at Sturgeon Point, I’ve brought the boat home to Buffalo. Rising rates and fuel prices helped make the move home an easy call. Politics at Sturgeon continue to be untenable. Looking forward to having the boat close and more easily accessible! If your out and about and don’t mind sharing please post up your reports, I’ll do the same! Hoping to get the old girl out of storage this week and target a trip soon! Tight lines!

  2. Laws of supply and demand!
Sturgeon Point is no longer a viable option, supply goes down and demand goes up along with cost.
I'm wondering if demand will hold though, with gas prices going thru the roof.
Used boat prices are still high also but I'm betting they will go down soon. I want to upgrade but prices are still in covid crazy mode.

True, I’ve been thinking truck prices will begin dropping as well, but they are still holding strong.

  3. Looks like costs for dry dock at Hidden Harbor have gone up significantly for this season. I moved from Sturgeon to Hidden Harbor, and now looks like I’ll be on the move again. Does anyone have any other affordable dry dock solutions between Buffalo and Silver Creek? I just can’t swing the price increase.

  4. Launched with my kids about 11a. Played around for a bit running a Hannah Montana zebco combo with a snap weight and worm harness, and a Star Wars zebco combo running the same. We stayed shallow 30-50, let the kids drive as we trolled from evangola back towards the Catt. Didn’t move a rod, really wasn’t the point I suppose. Lake was great, a little bumpy working into the wind. Great day for a ride. Brought the boat home for the season, who knows maybe we’ll get out a time or two out of Buffalo before storage for the season. Tight lines and happy hunting!

  5. What's up dudes tomorrow's wind forecast does not look good. I think I'm going to pass the upgraded tonight's wind and waves now it's one- 3 foot waves and they're still saying to foot or less tomorrow but there's no way if the wind is going to be the same all through the night and in the morning it's got to still be one two threes in the morning I think we're passing

Here is the link for the webcam. I’m going to try tomorrow if the winds die down. It’s doesn’t work well in low light. https://hdontap.com/index.php/video/stream/sunset-bay-lake-erie-coast-irving-new-york

  6. Any recommendations for boat insurance? I’ve had progressive the last several years. I’m looking to add additional coverages and figured I’d see what you all recommend.

I want to cover the boat and gear with liability of course. I do not charter but I do tournament fish. Boat stays on the trailer. Seatow included is a bonus!

  7. Shot in the dark but figured I’d ask. Anyone have a gear assembly for an older Cannon Mag10 (photo attached) the plastic gear is driven off the worm gear in the motor. This gear assembly mounts to the motor and then both are mounted to studs and secured. Min is stripped out and slips preventing the motor from raising the ball. Thanks and tight lines!

  8. Fished the Catt yesterday on Saturday from 7- 12, I agree with ciscokid, fished 74 ft - 80 ft, picked up 9 and last a few others,  fish were picky, a flurry of hits and then shut down for a while,  dipseys out 170 - 180, riggers a 53 and 56 (picked ip most of our fish on harnesses) and a 10 core which picked up 2.  trolling speed was 1.8- 2.2.  Fishing at or just above the thermocline seemed best.  Also picked up 3 healthy silver bass., walleye caught were healthy and appeared to be eating well.

We were out there as well, and echo the above. The armada was impressive. We were slightly deeper at 78-83fow. Varied speed from 1.4-2.2. Some fish liked it fast some slow. Very picky. Shut down for us around noon, then we picked up some short before returning to harbor at 3:30. We did best on green and watermelon colors. Popping out rigger lines gave us several fish. Had a few on dipseys and spoons back 125-150. Almost all of our fish were 22-24” and 3.5-4lbs. Fun hot day! Tight lines

  9. Fished a couple hours today straight out of the cat in 80-89FOW. Took two lost two others. Trying to refine our dipsey program. We only ran riggers with spoons and dipsey’s with spoons we fished 1.9-2.4mph. Screen was good most of the time. Packed up and ran out to 100 off Dunkirk to take a look and see if we could pick up a few Lakers. Nothing doing and we were out of time so we headed in. Tight lines
