Great report Thanks! I use jointed rapala alit. I will have to try the bay rats and renoskusAnother nice day out of Buffalo. We started in 50 fow this morning around 7:00 and caught 13 by around 10:00. If we would have got the fish we lost we would have been done before 9:30. Lost about five fish this morning early, not sure why. I All sticks, Bay Ray and Renowski. Purple and fire tiger were the best. Picked up three off the rigger and leadcore did the rest.
Decent eater sized fish - not too big, not too small.

Great thanks. Hopefully they will keep moving East. I go out of the Catt.
The walleye fishing is really heating up. We went out this morning at 7 back by 11. Caught 28 today kept 12. All nice fish. 40 to 50 FOW 35 to 45 feet down. Caught most on harness and sticks.

Does anyone here use artificial nymphs or wet flies, like those used for trout, off the bottom for perch? I have read where their primary food source is aquatic nymphs. I was thinking this would be so much easier than trying to get minnows, only to find out that you cannot find the perch.

Thanks Mike. Sounds like the fishing is great. We got a 3 man limit on Saturday trolling between seneca and the departure buoy. 5 color behind church boards with stickbaits and small dipseys at 2.5 out 65-70 ft. 12 to 14 ft leads behind the dipseys. Sunday we moved close to the border due west of departure B.. Wind shifted to almost due N. so we trolled with the waves at our back ended up in seneca area. Same program for another 3 man limit. All nice eating size eyes. No big fish but no throw backs either.

WOW those are the fattest walleyes I've ever seen!

You can tell walleyes from sheepshead and bass by the return on your screen. Long squiggly lines are walleyes. Hooks are SH SMB, etc. This is according to a Walleye charter Captain, and I have found he appears to be correct. Has to do with the air bladders in the fish.
Bottom bounced windmills @ 6am for about 1 1/2 hours. Lots of fish on the bottom in 40--45ft. Landed 2, 1 sheepshead & 1 white bass. We then went and fished inside breakwall because it was too rough to be enjoyable & saw alot on the fishfinder but no takers

27 lb leadcore. 10 colors. Never snagged that, but we did snag an 8 color when we came up on a shoal.
10 color lead... u had to be dragging bottom unless U were using some really light lead

Launched and went two or three miles west towards Dunkirk. Fished in 45 to 60 FOW. Best as 50 to 55. Caught 5 nice walleyes from 7 to 12. Some fish on screen but nothing like August and September. Most were on the bottom. 10 color lead. Drigger at bottom. Rapalas. And spoons.

Just troll with lead core lines. 5, 7, and 10 colors. Put on a jointed rapala. This has been most productive for me. On riggers, run spoons and if you mark fish, pop them loose and let them flutter up. I fish out of catt Creek because it is closer for me. We tried drifting with jigs and crawlers over a bottom screen plastered with walleyes, no luck. Resumed trolling. Ended with 4 man limit. Happened several times. Don't know why.

I wish more folks would make a report. I make a report every time. It is helpful for all of us. I never have much luck until August and September. Then we get 3 and 4 man limits. As I said in another thread, I cannot understand why it is hit and miss in June and July. Perplexed. I salmon fish Ontario until August.

These reports confirm what I have learned the last 3 years fishing from catt, SP, and Buffalo SBH: the fishing is not good and stable until August and September! Then, we get 3 and 4 man limits. I can't understand it, but it is what it is. In June and July, I don't do well.

I Know the feeling. That's why I started waiting for late July to shift to Erie walleyes.Sunday was awful, we struggled off of Dunkirk to put any in the box while we heard reports of others boxing out easily, even though we had identical setups and speed. I am not sure if thefish were in tight pods or not but it seemed we were not able to connect like others did trolling in the same water, frustrating for sure.

thanks for the information guys. I will give early Season another try. Had good luck with 5, ,7, 8 lead cores last year deeper. Guess I'll try some 2 and 3 LC.

I am wanting information on early Walleye fishing in these areas, which is where I fish. I never have much luck until Late July through September. Then I do pretty good. Can anyone tell me if you CAN have good success in this area earlier in the season, and how? I usually fish Lake Ontario for salmon until July for Walleye on Erie. Thanks.

I bought a 2016 tohatsu 9.8. runs beautiful. It Is a pull start. It does take some pulls to get it get going sometimes, first start of the day. But it runs great and quiet. I would get electric start next time. I always run pure gas, no ethanol.

too rough Sat so we're going tomorrow, Sunday 30th.

thanks for the report. Sorry about the deer. I'm taking a couple newbies out Sat. Guess I'll start in 60 FOW. We have had better luck in 80-85 just to stay away from other boats, but that was 3 or 4 weeks ago

Jointed rapalas best lure for me. Perch color. 3 inch and 5 inch. Some on spoons, some on harnesses. But the real thing was the leadcore line, not what was on it.

I hope so, I'm going out of the CATT saturday. Haven't been out in at least 3 weeks.

Thanks for the reports. I am taking a couple Pennsylvanian guys on Saturday. They have gone out of northeast PA, but have not figured out the Walleye fishing yet so they asked if I would take them. Glad it picked up again.

My wife and neighbor lady would love that. They don't like trolling, but that's the only way I've been able to get them. Maybe we will try it. Jigging? On the drift? Thanks.

Mine has a neutral safety switch that will kill spark if the throttle is not in neutral. Usually these are mounted in or near the throttle/shift lever.
