Off to Chautauqua Lake this Sunday for the first Muskie trip since July 4th.I had been leaving the Muskies alone because of high water temperatures up to 79 degrees.I'm hoping that temps have dropped below 75 degrees by now.Need to practice and get key locations down for the American Great Lakes Outdoors Writers Convention where we will take writers muskie fishing Thursday,Friday & Saturday next week. Soon as you hit the open water it was gin clear and not much marking on the screen.Inside the Harbor in the South Gap were very large schools of emerald shiners as well,you could also see them breaking the surface as they rose up after dark. I purchased them from old stock at Musky Shop .com,custom painted by Stan Durst.I do not think they have any more.From time to time they come up on eBay.Yes I use them after the grass is gone off the bottom in deeper Canadian waters of the Niagara River in early December.I upped the size of trebble hooks to 7/0 and "T" them.
