  1. Sunday morning we gave it one last dip at ferry before we bought goldens and connected with a net full of nice bait. We launched at Sturgeon and shot west. We consistently marked fish the whole morning but only 7 in the cooler. We were just about to leave to watch the game. All of a sudden we started catching one after another totaling 42 between the two of us. Nothing too big a lot of 9's and 10's. We left at the start of the 4th quarter so we can catch the rest of the game

  2. It must be a lot of fun fighting a 17 in her when you have 200 ft of line out with with a dipsey our with lead core. You might as well hook in into a shoe which would probably give you a better fight.
I'm on bottom bouncer and I like to feel the fight.

I like your spoon. I use the brass spoons with eyes attached to the front and back of spoon. I also attach a swivel to my harness so that they can be interchangeable on the spoon. No need for that large trailer treble hook. Go with the regular double hook setup

  4. At the club house, our next meeting is early this month because of the tournament. It is Thursday the 8th of June. They are also doing sign ups at the club on frday june 9th untill 8 pm. It's $35.00 for dues, $35 for the tournament. Both are mandatory if your joining the tournament. Then there is an optional $30.00 Calcutta for June 10 ,11, and 17th that pays the top 3 fish of each day. Then an optional $5.00 money prize, they draw names for $500.00 lots till the money is gone. So everything included is $105.00. It is a great tournament to fish for every weather your a novice or a professional. It won't break the bank and there is no pressure, and the awards picnic is a great time. The dates will probably never change and I'm good with that.

That's a lot of money for a small prize take

  5. When a boat, even a sailboat, is under way running lights must be displayed, A boat otherwise must display a 360 degree white light. A flash light does not work as I collided with a row boat one night while running at high speed. I just glanced off the side and no injuries happened except I received a couple loose rivets. I turned around and saw the occupants banging their flashlight against the gunwale trying to get it to work. When passing another boat you must slow down if they are in a 100 yard zone of you. But withour a bright light bad things can happen.

You shouldn't be speeding at night

  6. Failure to harvest enough perch from 1986 to 2003 caused a collapse of our walleye fishing here on Lake Erie. The unharvessted perch preyed on the small walleyes and even their own fry and fingerlings and we went from coolers of walleye to difficulty with taken our limit. We must maintain a balanced population of various species for success. The biologist give New York a quota and we never reach it.

  7. Small Rapala ice jigs work great, also Needle nose minnow from Thundermist lures is also rest and will catch as many fish as emeralds.
As far as emeralds, I think we have s serious problem. The shortage of this bait, is Great Lakes wide. Fishermen is Ohio are using Golden shiners, do to lack of emeralds. Is it the Golbies are eating the eggs as some people think of something else.time will tell. Went down to ft of ferry, three times no minnows. This is unusual, slaways had minnows this time of year.

  8. There are plenty of perch west of Sturgeon in 70 ft of water.
We had spot lock over a bunch marks. And tried jigging. We caught a dozen before we left. ( did not want to catch perch), also ended up with a bunch so walleye, including a 10 pounder, which was released including the rest of them. Just came back from Devils Lake, North Dakota. The walleye fishing is was fantastic .They are much smaller then ours but plenty of them. They jig fish for them with rapalas or slow troll wth one once trolling iron and a simple worm harness. Small red beads with a "2 spinner using gulp bait.
