I would suggest using heavier mono

Thanks for the report. I'm going to go smash them this weekend with my salmon gear. 30# mono on my riggers, and wire dipsy's.

Don’t you have anything heavier

Can I ask, where did you go out of? We are over in Fort Wayne, and everyone has been telling us the Perch aren't biting yet! I figured they would be deep yet. Just not that deep! We really want to get out, so any help would be really appreciated!
We are fishing eastern end
7.5 miles from Buffalo

There are plenty of perch in 60 to 65 ft of water. Live golden shiners will do the trick. Picked up 2 dozen jumbos in less then 1/2 hr. He. We quit, had enough for eating. Also picked up 6 walleye bottom bouncing. That’s all we wanted. We are not meat hunters like most of the guys I know.

I usually let all the lead then 10 passes across the reel of Power Pro backing. Then the board gets put on and out she goes.
Had another awesome day today west of the Catt. 4 people and we were done in 4 hours. Back in time to listen/watch Bills win. Watermelon harnesses on dipseys out 165 on a 2 setting and 195 on a three setting we’re absolutely crazy. Did get 6 on riggers with sticks and 3 on a ten color core with a stick. The rest came on wire divers. Great day all the way around.

I get a kick from all you guys. Dipseys, lead core, wire. All of you must be meat fishermen. There is no fight using all of the above. It’s like bringing in a boot. I enjoy bottom bouncing with with a light medium action spinning rod feeling the fight. And I’ll out fish those with the heavy weight equipment. Have have enough walleye in my freezer. Was out today, stopped at six then fish for perch with my seven foot micro rod. Ended up with 2 dozen. Could have caught a lot more. Bite was heavy.

Thanks for the reports. I've been driving all the way down to the Catt. Maybe I don't need to! I'm closer to SBH.

You will have to travel 7 miles west, from theS.B. H. to hit the walleye grounds

20 ft if water all the perch you wanted. Had to weed thru them. Lot of dink’s. Kepted 1 out of five. The ones in the box were 9 to 12 inches

We catch the big walleye on wire! And walleye aren't known to be great fighters, just great eaters!!!

We have a max of 21 inches anything over we release unless injured where they won’t survive. These are the eaters that taste good

In the central basin of Erie, we run stainless wire. Dive curve is 1' for every 10' of wire out plus your crank dive chart.
We break this out come August (about now) when the thermocline sets up and the fish go deep. It's common to run 300' of wire with a Rapala DHJ-12 which dives 19' on its own to get 49' down.
You can usually add 300' of 12 lbs wire on a fully calibrated 47 size reel.

What fun do you get when you battle a 21 inch walleye with wire, lead core, dipseys. The only way to go is bottom bouncing or jigging . I like to feel my fish at the end of line not dragging a shoe

Really nice deep v 16.5 ft boat for sale. Double live well. Minnkota trolling motor with co pilot installed. 90 ho mercury that starts up every time. Boat flies on the water and handles big waves like a champ. I fish Lake Erie out of Dunkirk and Catt creek regularly with it and have never had an issue. Comes with Lowrance fish finder/ depth finder. Rod holders too. Obviously with trailer also. Boat also has blue led lights all over the boat for night fishing. everything In great shape. Also comes with all the fishing stuff u will need for the right price. 4 cabelas depth master trolling rods and reels. Half a dozen dipseys. And all my tackle. Which is probably 50 crankbaits for trolling. From renoskys to flicker minnows to bay rats to reef runners. Everything u need to be on the water and fishing today. Life jackets and anchor also. Will try to do pictures soon. Call or text 7162291806
$7500.00

Want to have more fun. Spot lock , if you have an i-Pilot, and jig for them. I use a 3/4 oz. sting nose jig with a small piece of night crawler on one hook.

There is no quota as far as what they can take . They can take as much as they want.
We need to get the DEC to set up a limit on what they can take
The officers can only give them a summons for not having a fishing license.

Ran spinners and meat @ 1.0-1.5 all year with great success off bottom bouncers and inlines. It's all about repeating your pattern. Linecounters are pretty essential to success with this type of presentation.
Very true
Did the same here. Line counters are required.

I had very good luck Berkley Power worms they were a black body with a chartreuse green tail and also a light brown body with a yellow tail. We use them at the North Gap in the small boat harbor this summer when there was tons of walleyes there we could not keep up with live worms and thought it was the perfect opportunity to use power worms and it worked out awesome we caught bigger fish with them noticed that right away

They work just as good as real worms.as long as the cent doesn’t wear off.

I fished and learned about the mouth of Eighteen Mile Creek sixty five years ago. The Ramsey estate owned most of Creek bottom area along with a major bank here in Erie County. There was a concrete building and a concrete winch base on the west side of the creek.
