    Right now their are walleye in shallow, 50' or less. Been catching them up high, flatlining Rapala Husky Jerks from 75' to 150' out off the boards. Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk

    In early May, I would head west of Cleveland, like Lorraine, OH. We have a resident population of walleye in Ashtabula, but if your dad wants a big girl, he'll need one that spawned out on the western reefs and then took off east as the water warmed.     I fish out of Ashtabula OH on Erie for walleye. If your after a 10 lbs + walleye, run larger lures. We've been running the Michigan stinger magnum spoons off of true trips and the old Bombers #17's (their about 8" long) off wire or leadcore.     Do you have a source for the throwable requiring a line attached to it? I've had my boat courtesy inspected for over 20 by the USCG every year and that has never been mentioned. Only that the throwable is easily accessible. Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk

    Missed this part! If the boat was built after January 1 2020, older boats aren't required to have it is what I read, scroll down the link to where "requirements" is printed in red and click on it! They spell it out rather nice! Q6. What boats need to have an Engine Cut-Off Switch installed? A6. Boats less than 26 feet in length that generate more than 115lbs of static thrust (~ 2-3hp) and were built beginning in January 2020.     First time i saw inlines in use was on Lake Michigan back in the mid 90's. They were the old foam yellowbirds where they were clipped onto the line with a swivel on the back side. So they stayed slid down the line until you netted the fish. It was something seeing a king break water with a yellowbird attached! Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk

    If your running three lines or more, big boards are easier to manage. Likewise, if you have a novice crew, big boards are easier to reset. Inlines are easier to get out past an outside dipsy. Other than that, its a personal preference. Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk

    Pulled 25 walleye and 2 steel on Saturday. Lost a few walleye and another steel. Just got too hot to finish off that fifth ticket! Fished 60' out to 75' in a big U from in front of RedBrook to back around in front of Bula. #1 dipsy 130, #3 dipsy 160. True Trip 50's 100 back. 300' of wire with Pink or Blue Chrome Husky Jerks and 50' on the downrigger all pulled fish! Orange spoons ruled the day. Started getting hot and we pulled the plug at 11:30.     When the fish go deep and are hanging out in that 50'+ range, we fish with single strand stainless wire and a deep diving crank just over the Ohio line from PA. Most spool up 300' of wire on top of backing on a reel and put a mono or fluro leader. Dive curve is 1' of depth for every 10' of wire + crank depth. So 300' of wire with a Rapala DHJ-12 will run 49' down at 2mph. It's very effective once the fish go deep. Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk

    She was rolling out there this morning. Solid 4's, maybe an occasional 5? We ran to about 65' and setup and trolled SW awith the waves. #1 dipsy 134, #3 160. Orange spoons. Fish were deep. We got our limits and threw back 3 clearing lines. Done by 9. Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk

    I'm not sure about your end of the lake, but down here in the Central and Western basin, we have more walleye than anytime in the past 40 years. Those walleye are eating alot of baitfish and perch based upon their stomach contents when filleted! I'm sure that has nothing to do with a baitfish shortage! Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk

    Looks like winds out of the North at around 10 knots. Will make for some tough sledding plowing into them heading out so you can troll back south with the wind at your back.     Perch fishing has been horrible in Ashtabula for the last three seasons. I dont expect this year to be any different. Too many walleye. There have been reports of walleye in the 40'-50' range.
