Yea there's some fish out there in 90 and under up high I assume walleye....lots of marks out 115-130 deep Laker fishing was great today with some bonus steel 115-130 down 80-90...gambler rigs with death trap...fished 6-12 boated 10 Lakers 2 steelies (1 was dink) 1 eye and lost 2 eyes and few Lakers....good morning on ErieHey Stoneam2006 did you mark many fish out at 100 ft. I have been finding them in 50 to 60 fow,, from the N.Y. line to Freeport. We did hit pockets of cold water on Tuesday, surface temp was 76 but at 55 fow the temp dropped to 60, and no fish marks. Five and six color of lead and downriggers have been working best for us.

I haven't been here super long would be awesome if this forum was as active as the lake Ontario United forum....great group of guys over there as well!7/21 - Caught five along the international line straight out from windmills in 60-65 FOW. Two with worm harness/Dipsy set on 2-130ish on line counter (gold blades) and three on stickbaits/lead core off back of boat-seven colors (perch jointed rapala and goby Bayrat).
This forum used to be a great resource but it has gone downhill. Statistics indicate there are plenty of fish out there for all so lets work together and share information.

Been awhile...I've fished last few weekends and last night. Been fishing only a few hours at a time with wife and kids. Fishing for us has been on the slower side. Averaging about 2 eyes and hour with some junk fish mixed in when under 60 fow. Last night we ventured out deeper 100+' to look around only spent about an hour out there. Hopefully spend some more time there this weekend if all goes as planned. Last night was gold and silver harnesses on dipsys out 130-150 3 setting. Thermocline is setting up nicely out there i can see it on my Helix.
Some guys are doing way better than me lol hoping to get my program dialed soon. Guys catching them from 40-100+ from what I'm seeing.

Tourney rules can't really be bent...otherwise where does it stop. They are there to ensure everyone gets even playing field.
Didn’t realize being on time was such a serious offense

Have you tried the dipsys with releases on them? pretty neat concept.Yes, you run slide divers on wire. Splice in a section of 30 to 40lb mono or 65lb braid for the diver to slide on. I tend to like mono over braid. Pretty limited dive curves on slide divers. I like to run divers with rings.

Not sure on depthI'm thinking about using slide divers with wire, is there a dive chart for slide divers or is it the same as regular dypsy's ?

Can you run slide divers on wire? I've never used them only read a little about them..
There's also guys who put OR style releases on their dipsys to take place of the slide diver can set them with big leads just like the slide divers...there's a bunch of YouTube videos on it...I've never done that either but read about it

Pretty sure theres probably a minimum length requirement plus I'm pretty sure the shootout is invite only/waiting list to get in now...he must be doing something right...7th outta Im guessing 150 boats or soOK - I'll be the bad guy.
You catch thousands of walleye but come tourney time you only weigh in 4 fish?
So go ahead everybody and let me have it.
Just had to speak my mind.
And yes, I did fish today and buddy and I boxed our 12 out of Dunkirk straight out.

Nice job!I may not give out the info but I fish a lot of tournaments but I can say there's fish everywhere i do agree blue bird skys can make fish go deep but 3 weeks ago I landed 61 eyes in blue bird skys I can say this I've landed about 1000 eyes this year finding the eight water coulaman is it we took 7th todY in sunset shootout n we unfortunately only weighed in 4 fish

Probably not by much but I've made some bad decisions with gear and got some good advice from places like this!Yep, you guys obviously have more experience than me, I'm going to follow your advice and just run straight wire... Thanks for the help..

Personally I would go wire to dipsy no extra lure...
If you really want the leader I'm with above...braid is the anwser there.
Mono or flouro I don't think you will pop dipsy.
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk -
And I would be worried about tangles or potentially having the fish wrap the dipsy around itself

And you can still spring the dipsy?I run a 50ft flouro leader between the end of my wire and the dipsy ( to stop kinks when storing and transporting ) I wanted to see if I could run an additional lure on that flouro... So starting at the reel it would be wire, flouro, possible 2nd lure on that flouro, dypsy, then the leader off the dypsy...
I feel like this kind of defeats the purpose of the wire don't it? You lose 50' of wire?

Your going to run a 50 foot leader off your dipsy? No, I run a 50 ft flouro carbon leader off of a wire dypsy rod, I'm thinking of running a 2nd lure above the dipsey
Slide diver?

Personally I didn't think it was much different than braid other than depth it goes...make sure your connections are good. And make sure you spool enough on the reel for them screaming kings

I agree our walleye bite from now till October only gets better as it goes by. Our bite here should pick up any day and it is getting better daily...the fish are here stacked but gotta work for them. Guys are catching limits but it's full day's work for most. This fish will also move deeper as water warms not uncommon to catch them 70-100 fow in August which is cool bc you can target Lakers while your thete too and have double the fun lol

Been fishing last few days pretty slow. Fished 30-60' looking for a better bite...best bite I found was 1.5-1.8 mph at the ball...I have a hard time getting that slow but when I could find a direction that helped me get there my bite picked up alot..
