Good morning everyone! Even though we had snow Sunday, I’m itching to get on Lake Erie. Newer at fishing the lake, normally fish in northern Ontario.

As good fishermen do, I was looking to see if anyone had coordinates for early spring walleye and perch. Looking to launch in Port Dover or port Maitland area. May even go as far as Port Butwell (once the ramp opens up).

Any feedback or information on ramps, hot spots would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Grumman 16.5 foot bow rider with 88hp Evinrude and 9.9 kicker.

New to me boat as of last year, it is older (1988) but I got it for a steal of a deal...and it’s my first boat. Adding a helix 7 di gps finder as it came with an old lowrance.

Bought two manual downriggers from a buddy who upgraded to electric ($200 for both).

Good luck fishing and may your rods be bent and your daily limits full

welcome aboard (I think?) your first post and your asking for hot spots? (not cool!!) this is a give and take community there are people that will share information freely ( LIKE A STARTING POINT OR COLOR OR DEPTH ) but to come out and ask for a hot spot on your first post!!!!

here is one lake Erie, great hot spot!

  2. sticks, spoons, worm harness, they all work. I usually give them a mix of colors until I see what they like. id start with pink, green, blue, black and orange.  start with 1 rigger on the bottom and the other half way up. it wont take long to see where they want it. good luck and let me know hoe you do, im headed up next weekend.

  3. i can adjust to .1/.15 mph but  do have a pretty big boat. mines a 2452 bay liner hard top. top speed with kicker is 7.5 mph.

im guessing I can adjust about 50/75 rpm increments.  im thinking of maybe getting a smart troll this winter just for the hunt mode option.

So even if you only fish ny waters, you need a PA license to keep fish if launch/ retrieve out of Northeast. Is that correct?

im not sure. I know if you are fishing in Canadian water and you launch out of the USA you have to follow Canadian laws?? like no dirt in your worms, I was also asked how many rods we were using. there were 3 of us and we were only using 6 rods. and this was getting checked on the US side after returning.

  5. It looks like my stars might be aligning for this coming week. Thursday, Friday and Sat look like good weather.  Winds on Sat 13mph gusting to 20 out of the south. I'm hoping a south wind isn't too bad. I'll be coming up Weds, so I should be able to count on Thurs and Friday anyhow. Gotta check with Lakeside campground to see if they have a site available. Anybody run spoons off a D/R for walleye? Also are there any good baitshops around Westfield or N.E.?

They sell bait at Northeast marina.
