We put in a long day to get our 3 man limit Sunday. Basicly off Center Rd. in 85-75 fow. Best rods were 7 color with stickbait . Divers on #2 out 110-120 with a stickbait.. Rigger down 60-65 with a harness and fluttering it. Light wind from N. in morning and the bite was good. Wind shifted to W. about 10mph and we struggled to get our last couple fish.

    Thanks for the report..👍

Went to 67 FOW, this morning fished 7a-11a. Great screen but tight lips. Hit 2 and one perch tried just about everything. I’ll look for cooler water next time out i think. Out near the line and/or deeper.

Thanks for the report JustFishin !! Better luck next time out..

  3. Started fishing at around 6:30am in 70ft. Didn't get first walleye until later morning. Tough bite. Ended up with 3 walleye, 5 perch, and one silver bass.  All walleye came on jointed rapalas in black and silver. Walleye caught at around 55 ft down trolling at about 2.2 mph. Later used worm harnesses and caught perch.
I believe this is a silver bass? Are they good eating? Never had one before.

My last time out was last Tuesday straight out to the line from SP.

The bite was pretty slow and the wind has just shifted to the east from a bigger west blow the 2 days prior. The guy at the launch told me the bite had been good the days before.

I thought we would get into them good because of all the marks on the screen but they just were not active and feeding. I would say they are there for sure. Next west wind or maybe now after a few days of settling they will turn on again?

I may try again on Tuesday. Hoping for a south west / westerly wind.

Thanks Stillwater, I still haven't got out yet... This normal life is completely destroying my fishin career...lol I'll post as soon as I get out..

  5. Ran a 10 color lead with 30 feet of mono 15 lb with worm harness. When I pulled the line the mono seemed stretched and twisted. Any advice on what's best for leaders and lb

I run Sampo swivels, they are made right in Utica NY and are real high quality or you can run a very small spro swivel between your leadcore and your leader. They are strong and will fit through your guides easily

First post, been following for a few months. Thought I'd share my trip.

Fished Friday afternoon till dark and Sat morning till 2pm. Mostly west of harbor. Water temps are very high, 80 surface 70 at 60'.

Had to work for them, 15 in the box 28" was the best. Meat out produced sticks for us. 50' to 70' of water.

Thanks for reporting, that's what this site is all about...👍👍

No problem getting slide diver to release with mono for the diver to slide on.  Your main line is braid or wire so you only have a section of mono for the diver to slide down.

As far as using the release attachment to slide a regular dipsey - I don’t see any advantage.  To me just use a slide diver which is made for the purpose.  I’m prejudiced perhaps after playing with dipsey’s and big Jon jettison releases back when we ran mono on dipseys probably 30 years ago.  They worked about 20 percent of the time and failed more often than not with a big king on.  Quickly scrapped that experiment.

To me use dipsey or slide diver as designed- both have excellent track records catching fish.

Thanks for the help !! I'll be taking your advice.. Tight lines !!

    Not sure on depth

Can you run slide divers on wire? I've never used them only read a little about them..

There's also guys who put OR style releases on their dipsys to take place of the slide diver can set them with big leads just like the slide divers...there's a bunch of YouTube videos on it...I've never done that either but read about it
