  1. Things are still not changing. Ten months of open lake this year and Sturgeon Point finally opened after walleye season opened. Then it was blocked by a sand bar again. A sixty mile round trip to the Cattaraugus Creek was the nearest lake access from the Southtown areas. But the registration moneys, sales taxes and fuel taxes disappear in the “Black Holes” called Albany, “County Hall” and the entitled.

Your absolutely right... Plus the 15.00 launch fee. You'd think they would at least pay someone to keep it open until at least Sept 30th. I have said it for years, if you want to build a bar or open another jet ski launch then you've got everyone's blessings. But access for sport fishing is a joke. And on a normal summer half the weekends are taken up with runs and bike a thons and access to the water is a real pain... it's a shame, but not surprising for NY...

A bunch of customers store them in bass plastics file bags.  I use zip locs also after they dry.  As far as them out fishing cowbells, some days they do and some days they do not. I have found when currents are heavy, traps out produce cowbells.

No they ran awesome...they don't pull near as hard as the cowbells which is nice on the riggers so I don't have to crank them down and then forget when I go back to eyes lol.

Storing them is odd...I ended up "folding" them up and using a rubber band to hold tight

:emoticon-0102-bigsmile:    Heading to Barcelona next week for walleyes but also wanted to try verticle jigging for lakers as we do in the Finger Lakes. Anyone have experience doing this? How deep (fow)would we have to go to be in "laker country" . Also, about many fow is the Canadian boundry straight out from Barcelona. Thanks for any input.

You don't have to worry about the border, you'll hit 100' waayy before Canada

I haven't used them yet, do you have trouble with them tangling when you deploy ?

I really think the only consistent bite your going to find is Barcelona to the state line... If you go out of other ports your bound to find pods of fish or small groups by default, but your going to have to work very hard for them and chances are you won't get any numbers. But as far as the numbers we have enjoyed the last couple years. I really don't think it's happening this year. Hopefully I'm wrong..
