Southtowns Walleye Association Annual Tournament

The 32nd annual Southtowns Walleye Tournament has come and gone. I would like to thank everyone who served on the tournament committee as well as those who volunteered to man the weigh stations and the runners who picked up the slips & delivered them to the club.

A huge special thanks to Randy Scott and Brian & Amy Plecas. The three of you were indispensable to me this year. We all worked very hard to put on a quality tournament this year for our club members We hope everyone was satisfied  with the tournament.

Planning for next years tournament will start next month and we could use more help on the tournament committee. Anyone is welcome to attend .Last but not least thanks to all who entered this years tournament and please talk to your fishing friends &relatives about fishing in next years contest.

I'm very happy to announce a new corporate sponsor for the tournament. Tran Pro will be donating to the tournament two kicker motor mounting systems. One will be raffled off and the other will be a prize for the heaviest walleye caught on Tran Pro day which is yet to be determined. Please help the tournament committee by signing up as early as possible for the tournament. Also please sign up to man a weigh station. We can't have a tournament without volunteers to weigh in the fish. It's only three hours long 1-4pm each day. Just signing up for one day would help us out a lot.

I have received a few questions about the Calcutta. Here are the basics, the Calcutta runs three days during the tournament, Sat-June 10th, Sun-June 11th & Sat-June 17th. Everyone on your boat does not have to be entered in the Calcutta, however you can only enter a fish that you caught if you are entered in the Calcutta. The cost is $30 for the three days. The top four fish caught each day will get cash prizes which is determined by a percentage of total of the total Calcutta fees received. Last year first place each day paid out $1200.00. Complete rules are in the tournament book which will be out in April. If you enter a fish in the Calcutta you must fill out a separate Calcutta weigh slip. You must ask the weigh station attendant for the slip.

If you have any questions about the weigh stations ask myself or Don Mullen at the next meeting or call me at 716-462-9576.
