  1. We ended up with a two man limit. 2 fish came off riggers down 20ft with black silver rapala. Rest came off two and three color with bayrats. Caught four from 845 to 9pm. Which is uncommon for us this time of year usually those fish have moved up shallow by that time. We had some nice heavy fish 6lb or so in the batch.

What, you got the bay rats to fire? Lol. Good job man. I know you love your renowskys. I'm sitting here contemplating fishing the Southtowns tourney but I'll be starting chemo and radiation June 5th, so that will probably get in the way. Cashing a check two weekends in a row has me loving this tournament fishing lately, lol.

  2. Hey guys, well I think I have figured out one of my problems. My boat has a 3.0 mercruiser in it and my idle is set I think too high. I'm gonna lower it 650-700 rpm

I did that on my last boat, a 25' hardtop. Lost a little top end speed but was able to troll at 2.0 consistently. Two bags out in my 19.5' aluminum allows me to run a touch higher in RPMs while still trolling at 1.5 ish. Bags are nice in choppy water too, kind of stabilizes the boat.

  3. Small boat harbor's old launches are not too steep, I'm not sure how the new launches are at small boat harbor and erie basin's are a little steeper.
King, if you do upgrade your bow mount let me know I am looking for a terrova to upgrade my powerdrive. Saw the one on Lou but it was a 54" and thinking I should get a 60".

My buddy has one for sale. He's upgrading. It's on LOU. Steelie1975. Asking $1300 with two remotes.

  4. We catch all the eyes we want just off the reefs in the day time and we are all alone. Move out to 20 to 30 ft and run two and three colors with sticks. They are usually glued to the bottom. We do a lot of s patterns in our trolling pattern dropping the baits to there face.

I do the same bouncing harnesses. There's just something about hitting WOT, with a cooler full of perfect eaters, on a calm night, with the lights on the shoreline. My favorite part of the night.

  5. Generally it's all the eater sized males, which is what I'm after anyway. Sometimes we hook into a decent one but I've never caught any over 7-8 lbs in a spring night trip. I sight fish them on spot lock sometimes to with a headlamp as long as it's calm out. That is an absolute blast. I use the terrova as autopilot when trolling for salmon and walleye, with the big motor as thrust. Once you try that, you'll be spoiled. Lol. I would love to add a kicker and upgrade to the 36v ultrex but I'm looking into upgrading electronics this year
