Lake Erie Ice Cover - She looks pretty locked up! Hopefully, it'll lead to another good year for good spawning conditions and fry survival! I think the "downside" to this will be additional predation pressure on the perch fishery.....

Out of all the eyes that we caught last year none had perch in them. Smelt and mostly Goby. We stopped using blades that mimic perch, blades like fire tiger, and now use Goby color blades and spoons. White pink to mimic smelt. So I'm not worried the eyes will decimate the perch. Now Jimski. And Herb...they can decimate the perch

  2. Fished the Catt Mon, Tues & Wed about 9 miles out in 85 - 95 fow. Ended the 3 days with a total of 38 walleye between 2 of us. The smallest was 15 & 1/4", the biggest was 30",  had another that was 28". All on harnesses.  Weather was picture perfect and yes the flies were biting at times, other times the eel flies were crawling all over.

    Any crawlies in Barcelona

  3. I do not. I will, however, cast out and leave a slack line. This will leave the hook close to the bottom if not on it.  Every few seconds, I tighten the line and feel for any weight and set hook. If there is no "extra" weight, I'll go back to slack.  In fall fishing in the past, there were plenty of Niagaras around and a very aggressive jigging with a spoon replacing the weight and a chartreuse plastic slayed them along with an eye or two. That technique only worked when there were massive bait schools though.

That's cool cover more ground if there not right under boat. Your pretty slick

11 in 6 kept 6 lb to 16 inch. Bring the little guys in super slow when hooked in deep water and they shoot down like spunky little monkeys

  5. Hey Aquaman...where abouts are you noticing them? I see the mid & western basin boys are starting to chase em. Probably should throw a little perch gear on the boat if we got lucky and limited early on the eyes
