  1. Like others say this is great site and just starting but I feel that there is a ton of info already. I know I have increased my catch rate from the help on here. I try to post info when as much as I can. Like youngblood said give a little get a little.

I feel like most of us are just looking for a starting point being mostly a weekend warrior for me, the fish can move out quickly. I just hope like other sites I have been on this does not get into a pissing match that causes guys to leave.

The other difference between here and LOU is that LOU has many charters that post and fish daily.

This is a great site and has a ton of great info.

  2. I set up a 7 color last year and used braid as the backing. I used the willis knot. I looked around on LOU and didn't find anything saying to use a different knot for the braid to leadcore. But this has me thinking that I should keep an eye on it, just in case.

  3. Tried today out of sbh, was a little bumpy to start but lake settled down. Fished around Seneca shoal but only got bass, one was a 5 lber. Water temp was 48 degrees on probe. Tried 25-45 ft, sticks. Bass came on bay rats purple with chartreuse all of downrigger 2 ft of bottom. Water was still a little murky. No eyes, probably a dozen boats out. Look like most were after bass. Still launching by the restaurant, was a cluster retrieving as the marina was launching boats every few minutes. Got chased off by rain as I forgot rain gear. Good to get out and get the cob webs cleaned out.

  4. I'd go with 2 5s, 1 3 and 1 7.

I have a 5, 7, 10 and 4 that was a 5 but got snagged and lost some when I was too shallow. I use the 5s most of the time. I added the 7 last year and have not used it much. Also depends on how you plan to use them. With a 3 you can add snap weights to get deeper or if you have a 7 or 10 that doesn't mean you need to let out all 7 or 10 colors.

Geezze,  I just put an  I-pilot on my bow, but after seeing the posts here I am afraid to have anyone see it!  You guys might shoot me!  I haven't been out with it yet, still new.

Line, I did the same this year with adding a terrova and ipliot. I did get out to play around with mine but it was not very windy when I was using the spot lock so I'm not real sure on it. If I do use it out there I will use common sense (lacking with some people) and see how it works outside the crowd.

I am mostly a weekend warrior so will probably be fighting the crowded ramps this weekend.

Elma, great pic I'm sure we all know what the guy is saying too.

  6. It was like that last year as well, guys would anchor right next to you and almost hit you. There was one guy that anchored but left his motor running and his buddy was letting out more line and just about hit a guy in a smaller boat.

It's almost as bad as salmon trolling or the night time trolling when the season opens for walleye. But it shouldn't be that hard, just like the idiots that load/unload stuff from their boat on the ramp blocking it.
