I have been saying for years there should be a launch at Evangola St park. every thing is there except a launch! Parking , lighting, rest rooms the road. I know South town walleye org. tried for years but never got any where with it. Maybe we should start writing letters to B. Higgings He seem like the only one that gets things done on the water front!
I don't think Evangola would be the spot in my opinion its too close to the Catt. and would need a substantial break wall there. It would be a nightmare to put a boat on the trailer in the wind there with out a break wall. Either near Point breeze in the bay to block the wind, or I have always said in 18 mile creek off old lake shore rd. would be a good spot if the creek was deep enough to support navigation. I do like the Woodlawn state park idea but the same issue of needing a wall.

Can you explain what we are looking at in the picture? I get the leader but what are the 2 blobs behind it ?
A fish and a harness ? A stick bait and a fish ? A fish and a flasher ?
Cool picture regardless
your looking at a lake trout coming in to hit a spoon off a downrigger. video was filmed off vanbuern reef on june 11 2015.

I use fluoro a lot for centerpinning..... it's a different application, but bear with me....... I've experimented on several days with fluoro and differing line diameters. Normally, I'm using 6 or 8 lb fluoro for leader material. One day when the "normal" bite stopped I dropped down to 2 lb fluoro leader (that's all I had lighter than 6) and the bite immediately took off again...... problem was I couldn't land any fish..... so they wouldn't hit a 6 lb fluoro leader, but would hit a 2....... so I think they can see "something" even with fluoro...... maybe its light reflection....... but they see something.
It's also interesting that the vast majority of walleyes come from behind....... I'm guessing that they don't see much of the front of the blade, only the cup color. Maybe the cup color/shape is way more important than I've been giving it credit for......????
stop by our booth ill show you guys some of the clips its pretty cool. I also will play some in the seminar.

Stop up to the Ultimate Outdoors of WNY booth at the Western New York Sport and Travel Expo in Hamburg march 9-12, and I can sit down and go over lead core presentations with you. 75% of our program is lead core for all tournaments and charters. we run Woodstock and and some Blood Run lead core. I don't necessarily buy into the whole stealth core thinking, as we run 50 to 75 foot leaders on our leadcore lines. I'm thinking the fish aren't seeing the lead core anyways so no need for a "camo" presentation. 99% of the fish we catch on the Water Wolf underwater camera come in from behind the bait. Out of hundreds of hours of footage we have, 1 fish and 1 fish only came in from the front. I don't run fluorocarbon either just 15 lb Berkley big game. Our numbers don't really change with either line, so no reason in my opinion to spend the money on the flouro. Not to mention that it isn't as invisible as most people think it is. This pic is from 130 feet of water off Vanbueren reef fishing for Lake Trout. This leader is 15lb 100% fluorocarbon Seagur in the red box. So you can form your own opinion on the flouro debate.

Use the Torpedo Diver #2 ball bearing snap swivel they have 2 ball bearings in them. Even if the harnesses you buy do have swivels on them you should use a quality Ball Bearing Snap Swivel with them. I never run a swivel on my harnesses. I always use the torpedo snap swivels and have for many years, the snap on the torpedo snap swivels will never open on their own. Also these snap swivels have welded rings not split rings. A high quality ball bearing snap swivel is a must when pulling harnesses. contact me if you want some of these snap swivels I have many in stock.

We headed out of Sturgeon Point yesterday for a few hours and did very well. We fished just west of the point in 56 foot of water. there was about 15 other boats out there. There were quite a few jumbos being caught.

Hey Jules Keep me posted on conditions and reports we will be there May 8th.

I sell everything to deal with trolling the great lakes, especially lake erie walleye fishing. That's our specialty I handle blades, harnesses, spoons, crank baits, rods, reels, all types of lines, ect. ect.
-
PAP I don't have a shop per say we are a little different here we do a lot of outdoor shows, and I deal out of our house, ship, or I'll meet up with you to get your stuff. We just set up at the Erie pa. charter boat association sale they had yesterday for their Walleye School. I sold out of Hybrid Lures Spoons and Blades there. I sold more of his Spoons than I sold Moonshine spoons. Any one can call me at 716 796 5372 if you want to talk or get anything. Thanks, Jim
-
I am a dealer for hybrid lures, I am the only one in WNY who has his stuff. I just ordered 100 Spoons and a few hundred blades. I also have about 600 blades in stock in Colorado and willows he painted for me. I will have all his stuff at the BOSS show April 15,16 and 17th.

My advice is leave the riggers home and bring more leadcores out, they will out fish the riggers 5 to 1.

This is a big myth about walleyes they will and do feed down, from the front, from the side, and from the back.

I Can't buy a walleye on a thunder stick, 20 years fishing erie from Port Clinton to Buffalo and never caught one on a Thunder Stick.

Sting nose work good it just depends on the fish. we had real good success with the smaller ones for perch also. I stock the sting nose also. We will have them at the Hamburg show.
