I am almost always run a spoon on a slider. As long as you are running double spoons it shouldnt tangle. I have gotten many doubles on the same rod.

Fished out of Sturgeon on Monday the 13th. Caught 50 walleye. All on spoons and most on downriggers with some on leadcore. Almost all were 15-20". No big ones.
