Man I hope tomorrow isn't badFished out in front of Dunkirk yesterday boated 20-25, got 14 keepers ,1 steelie, & 3 perch. Was a perfect day, flat lake , a slight breeze, not humid, & good fishing! What more does a person need!

Never thought about keeping track of turns out. I may try that now. When fishing for walleye I turn my chamberlains out 3 to 3.5 turns from bottoming out. They will release on small eyes when set up like this.

I run chamberlins and own blacks also. Chamberlins are great when I fish the fingers i loosen them up and have even the smallest rainbows release them and then go to Ontario and put 11 in paddles behind them no problems

Even the charter I went on ran connectors. I run diawa 47lc and okuma Magda I like both. Will be buying convector as needed to replace or build up my spread. I use them for salmon tooTen Percent, i am not sure how seasoned I am but this is my opinion none the less. I am not of the mindset that you need to spend a ton of money on trolling gear. Sure I have overspent on my favorite spinning, baitcasting or mooching setups, YES! Don't tell my wife. I have gotten by very nicely on Okuma Convectors. They are reasonably priced with some nice deals eBay or Amazon. I have put them through a lot and the just keep ticking. They are smooth with decent drags and the line counters on more than the dozen I have are still operational after 5-10 years of use(abuse). I use them for everything from leadcore, dispy, to braid for bottom bouncing. Sure I would like a while battery of Tekotas or better, I just don't see the need as a recreational angler. Perhaps my opinion would change if I was running a charter service.

I've been running the big dipsy on 2.5 setting they trip about half the time but as long as keep eye on rod tip you can see them on itWhat size & style dipseys are you guys using? Light bites? I didn't think they would trip a diver!

Worth it...was a great timeFishkiller16. I didn't know you were a Charter Captain. I want to go on a "learning charter" I just upgraded to a 22 foot Grady White and I had fish hawk, autopilot, downriggers, planer mast etc,. What I need is knowledge. This is my second summer on erie and Ontario and I know we should be doing better, when I see reports like your where you got 60, but we only caught 6! Please message me with price and availability for the next week or so. I have two others that will likely come along. I need help. Thanks, Garry.

I had the opportunity to go on a learning charter with Captain Jim in late June. He taught me a ton on that trip that I use every trip out wether for salmon trout or eyes from lake O the fingers and now lake Erie. He and his mate has a ton of knowledge and was more than happy to share it and answer any questions I had.and thats why your called Fishkiller! I wish I had your expertise. I also tried to stay away from everyone. Maybe I should have went farther out, but we were almost to the Canadian Border, and then it started getting shallower. Went from 80 then started to go back up to 69 before we turned south again.
Pics are of me and my dad with my first ever eye and my dad's 2nd ever and both our first time out on Erie. Weather sucked that day too...only time I ever got sea sick. Rained really good too lol.
Guys like that and many of the guys on these forums are the reasons newbies like myself can go out and catch fish. The learning curve is greatly reduced and for that I say thanks to you all who continue to post detailed reports and answer our questions in posts and when we meet onshore. Kudos

Cohocton as in near naples? My grandmother owned that bed and breakfast there that burnt down some years ago
Hey rvan...I did put together a crew. Leaving from Cohocton & either going to barcelona, catt or dunkirk. A buddy is going to barcelona. Got into quality size fish. Guess I will sleep on it & see where my crew wants to go..you should drop me some contact info via pm (cell). It's not always easy finding someone to go when you can..good luck

Awesome hope I can catch some Erie fish. Will also throw some gambler rigs for Lakers. They are laker catching lures at their finest.Hay stonam how has the fishing going, took some guys out on Ontario last weekend boated 20 coho and 2 year old kings out in 300 ft of water took 4 kings over 20lb nice day. we did well on lakers on Erie ran Gambler rigs in green and a large spin and glow off riggers just off the bottom at 1 to 1.5 S.O.G.. also run divers a little higher up in the water for bows and eyes. we got some nice bows there also.
As for Ontario it's been awesome went 5 for 9 few weeks back with uncle and dad coho king and nice atlantic. Went out with a LOU member too and did some nice coho. Cannot wait for next season to get out there more with the bigger boat. Want to expand my fishing so going to try Erie as well. Hope I see you out on the water sometime. Hope all is well with you.
