For perch on Erie I exclusively use the 5/16oz 2” jigging rap. Top colors year to year consistently being the gold/balck, silver/black, rainbow trout, and goby colored. With my best color which has taken more perch then all the other baits combined being the parrot colored blue/chartreuse. That day I was using the clown color which I normally don’t use very much.

    Thanks man !!

Fished yesterday evening, first decent perch bite of the fall. Not stellar but good. Found some large schools from 68-71fow suspended about 10-15 off bottom. Average size was good with some real fattys mixed in. Plain jigging rap was the best bait. Reeling up to suspended marks produces bonus walleye catches.

Great report !!!   What size jiggin rap and what colors??  TIA

  3. Got out of Barcelona on Friday 10/4. Fished 105'-115' straight out of the harbor, fish were down 50'-75' (didn't really mark much until we got out past 95').  Fished from 9:00-11:00 to get our 2 man limits.

Mag dipsies on one side of the boat...3 setting was 170 back, 1 setting was 140 back

#1 dipsies on the other side of the boat....3 setting was 220 back, 1 setting was 180 back.

Ran the new Pirate Reno Rockers Pirate Reno Rocker | FishUSA in the blue/silver on two of the dipsies and I ran Walleye Nation's new LIL SB Reaper Walleye Nation Creations LIL SB Reaper Crankbait | FishUSA in the purple tiger and blue maui colors.

No shorts and no junk fish.

Ohio has no closed early season on sport walleye fishing. New York State should open to year round walleye fishing as ice fishing and spring fishing can continue. The walleye numbers in Ohio have no shortage and out of state license sales from New York residents for spring contests or personal use are not harming the replacement numbers. Our regulations were instituted years ago and now are need of change to the present situation. Rivers and inland lakes are open there but we have regulations that are outdated.

What else is new?!!  NYDEC with it's head up it's a$$ as usual. Always years late with any reg changes that can help fisheries or fishermen.

They should also lower the limit on perch to 30/day like PA and OH have.

  5. Yep, WAY more than 40 boats !!!

We fished down almost to Evangola, started in 57', bite was best early until around 10:00, then it slowed down.

By then we had 70 in the box. Got a call from a friend who was straight out from us in a large pack of boats in 62' and everyone was catching fish so we ran out there and put another 30 in the box before heading home.
