  1. Need a little help. On Thursday a buddy and me will be out on Erie off of Sturgeon Point and we have never fished this area before. I’m not looking for your secret spots but any advice would be appreciated.

We went out of Sturgeon POINT last week and bottomed out on the sand bar at the harbor entrance both going out and coming in and my engine was way up. I will not launch there again this year. I would recommend going to the cat.

  2. Just returned home from SP. Fished 2 pm until dusk.
2 Walleye and 2 perch and a few sheeps. Started out motoring west to around 70 fow based on most of the latest reports about fish being taken deeper out in front of the Catt. Got the 2 on harnesses drifting.
Hats off to you whitecap1. Congrats on a great day and for finding them in shallower water.
Just before dark on the way in we stopped to check the screen around 50 fow. Had more marks than we saw all day out in 65 to 72 fow but they did not want to bite except for a few sheephead. What time did you catch your fish Whitecap1? A reports out of the Catt said the bite slowed around noon.
We fished 9am till 3:30. The bite was definitely better before noon but we caught fish after noon as well. We fish drop offs and found one that dropped from 45 fow to 55 fow and the fish were stacked on the top. It was the best day we've had all year.

Fished today 6:30-noon. west of the Reseach Buoy. 65-70 FOW. Landed (15) walleye 17"-25" & (1) 33".  2 big white bass, a couple perch & a couple sheepshead.

7  color lead core caught the majority. A few on downriggers near the bottom. Worm harnesses with pink in them were  best

Water was 78 on surface and 58 at 70ft.

The weather buoy is almost 10 feet tall, is in 88.5 feet of water. It's location is 42.740 N 79.290 W (42°44'24" N 79°17'24" W) and looks similar to the photo I've posted. Load the lat and long I've posted in Google Maps, it will show its exact location to the border.

Is this the port colborne buoy?

  8. Update on Sturgeon pointToday, the Town Board amended pricing for the 2020 season for launching.

    Daily Launch - $15
    Seasonal Launch Pass - $175

Senior (65 or older) / Veteran
    Daily Launch $10
    Seasonal Launch Pass - $110

They will address slips in next weeks meeting but did state rates will remain the same (NO increases or pro-rating for the remainder of the 2020 season)

EDIT: The Town Board also does not plan to have a full time night guard - which means there will be no security at night for the slip holders and dry docks. We suggest you voice your concerns via email to your elected officials.

Due to weather and a Yuke breakdown, the dredging project will not be completed for this weekend. We have rented a Yuke from another company to continue the momentum of this community project.

We will keep you posted on a completion date.
