Downriggers

Recommended Posts

I bottom bounce in 45 ft in to 25 ft water depths.I use dipsies and Gibbs weight with 7 colors of Leadcore to get down 50 ft.Only use downriggers when in 70 ft + water depths, usually balls 10 ft off bottom and 50 ft lead with spoons. Then run two inline boards off each side ,two 7 color Leadcore and two dipsies.

We've had good luck using riggers to fish dipsey divers deeper than 50 fow or so.  Set the smaller diver on a 2 or 3 so they swing off to the side and below the ball and cable.  We've set as many as three divers off a single rigger before with no problems.  Never had much luck fishing a bait at the same depth as the ball is running without running extremely long leads and at that point you'd better be using rubber bands or you'll drag fish forever.

Most guys run two or three riggers! I run two & $20 for a release that is bulletproof is cheap. Chamberlains are the best IMO & I can find better ways to save $20

That's pretty good advice, dad! Saves money!
