Off to Chautauqua Lake this Sunday for the first Muskie trip since July 4th.I had been leaving the Muskies alone because of high water temperatures up to 79 degrees.I'm hoping that temps have dropped below 75 degrees by now.Need to practice and get key locations down for the American Great Lakes Outdoors Writers Convention where we will take writers muskie fishing Thursday,Friday & Saturday next week.

I had a similar experience last year on Lake Ontario. A 5 inch king hit a magnum spoon and buried all three treble hooks in its mouth. I probably dragged it around for hours. No luck getting the hooks out without killing the fish. Bummed me out. The span of the trebles was the same size as the fishes mouth.
