DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WKBW) - About 990,000 gallons of sewage was dumped into Lake Erie over the weekend in Dunkirk.

Officials say this happened about 7 a.m. Sunday off of Wright Park Drive. The amount of rain that fell across the area played a role in the sewage being leaked into Lake Erie.

Officials say the discharge was partially treated with disinfection.

The Buffalo National Weather Service reports that over two inches of rain fell in the Dunkirk region over the weekend.

That’s nothing new
Take a boat ride around 3 in the morning past the Buffalo sewage plant and smell the raw sewage.
The ironic part of it , the Tonawanda water treatment and intake is just 1 1/2 miles down stream. And then you wonder why the cancer rate is so high in the Toneandas
