First time out this morning, (not in the STWT), trolled for 6 hours and only managed 1 walleye,  1 bass and 1 sheephead.  worked hard and threw the kitchen sink at them. Trolled in front of the windmills, out to the condo's and to meyers reef.  For all the suposed great spawning thats been happening the last few years, where are all the walleye?

We got a ton of them at Meyers during stwt

  3. I used Homemade board on Bay of Quient back in late 60s. Everyone laugh until they saw the eyes. The all asking how too make the boards. I had last laugh

If you want nice folding boards look for superskis by prince raft company. They came fixed with an available kit to install to make them collapse. They were first out in the 1980's but I'm not sure if they are still being made new. Plenty of them around though. I see them up for sale on Leu and Lou quite often

  4. Fishing box

Really like these boxes. First time I seen the prototype at captain bob's I fell in love with it. Of course I have the maxi mate box but it's not only big it beats the paint off the spoons. I use the dividers for the cranks to keep my spoons from banging into each other. Holds enough baits for a day and I just swap them out at home if I want to try new colors. Going to get 2 more and I'll have everything I need in separate boxes. Not that I recommend it but I've flipped the box over a few times and never had a problem. Flip the maxi mate over and good luck. Lol. Anybody not sure about it go to captain bob's and check them out. It's a well built product that he has surely put a lot of time into. Can't wait to get the new box for big sticks, I'll have big sticks, little sticks, and spoons all in there own box. Now make us salmon guys a box for flashers and dipsy's please!
We could also use a smaller box like that with a few divided trays for fishing things

  6. They work just like a deep husky or bay rats ... I’m trying to collect them and get some colors I don’t have

I googled power divers when I first saw your post. What came up was the power unit a scuba diver would use to be pulled around in the water. I've seen these lures for years and had no idea what they were called

  7. Those

Im running the same transducer you have.  I primarily troll lake erie and ontario.  When doing so the chirp transducer is really good.  for the most part i just leave it on the "auto" setting and let the computer choose the power and frequency it deems appropriate.
However, when Im targeting Kings on Ontario out in deep water....like 150-250 down in 500fow I do adjust the frequency and power manually to zero in on the target depth I'm fishing.
I don't find the side scan useful at all on the great lakes trolling for walleye, steel, browns, kings, lakers, etc.  However I DO find it a bit useful when I'm on Chautauqua lake going for small mouth bass.  Theres not much structure down there, but you can find some.

I was hoping that I could use the side scan to pick up my dipsys, copper rods, lead core out on the sides running off the planer boards.  But either I can't decipher what I'm seeing on the display...or its just not able to perform how I want it to.
The dipsey's are too far behind the boat to be picked up on down or side scan

  8. The true trips and jet divers come in different sizes. The bigger they are the deeper they dive

True trip 50's already have a weight on the front side of them and will dive to 50' (we tested in 50' of water and ticked bottom). But I'm not sure how much deeper they will dive that that.

We run true trip 40's early and 50's when the fish go deeper.

One advantage of a true trip over a jet diver is the true trip has a release like a dipsy. So once a fish trips it, it's easier to tell you have a fish on.

  9. I'm surprised no one has brought up the amount of oil that they leak. Have never seen this personally but have read how the gearboxes start to leak and it is cheaper to top off oil than to repair gearboxes. I also have talked to an electrical engineer who made the same claim. He was involved with the wind turbines in Texas and Oklahoma and bottom line said be careful what you wish for. A company has installed them in arkwight already and Cherry Creek where I live is next. The biggest reason they are here is the lower income landowners who think a couple Grand a year is life changing. You will never see them in the Catskills or the Adirondacks where the wealthy play

The Lackawana wind turbines are on shore not on the water.Wind Turbines on Lake Erie would have adverse effects on spawning grounds, lake currents, areas off limits to fish and many possibilities of contamination of waters!

  10. The way Lowrance explained it to me was we buy and import parts and assemble the units here. When the parts are gone that's it. Ever since the Lcx series I had nothing but trouble. Spending my money elsewhere

Lowrance is no longer a family company. Owned by a company that makes a bunch of electronics.
