I'm thinking of upgrading my fish finder to a Garmin 93 Sv (without the panoptics transducer).

Anyone out there who has used one in real life?

I'm currently using a Lowrance 5 inch sonar and a stand alone Lowrance global map GPS with a Navionics chip.

I Like the Global map and will probably keep it on the boat, but I would like to upgrade to a more modern sonar.

I like the way the 93Sv snaps into bracket without having to plug in a bunch of cables.

	Opinions welcome.

	Thanks

A couple questions for some of the guys on here who BB deep water:

How much weight are you using and at what depths?

I have heard of guys using up to 8 ounces in deep 70-80 foot water

What rod are you using for BB heavier weight (6-8 ounces)?

Is you BB rod for heavier weight same rod you are using for lighter weight?

What I am conflicted with is using the same rod for 8 ounces than you do for 2 ounces.

	Thanks for sharing.

Hi everybody, I'm new to the forum here. I've been fishing Erie from the North Shore out of Kingsville and Wheatley for years.

I have been using old 7' Charters Choice rods made by Wolverine Tackle. Those rods are long discontinued now. I love the rods as they are great for inline planers, big planers, down riggers, bottom bouncers, etc. They are unfortunately well used now and was wondering if anybody knows what I could replace them with.

	Thanks,

I'm thinking of buying 300 ft of 32 lb copper to set up a couple of walleye copper set ups. I have plenty of experience with lead core but am wondering if copper line will help this time of year. I was thinking 2 150 ft rigs or a 175 and a 125 or a 100 and a 200. Anybody out there have any experience with this? Is it a waste of time and money? Will it go deeper than 10 color lead core ?

I'm thinking 300 ft on one reel will be draggin bottom in 80 FOW but don't really know personally.

	Thanks in advance for replys.

Rigging up three lines for perch fishing is a waste of bait and results in a catch loss. One rod held in your hand takes more fish each trip since you are not rebaiting and resetting extra lines where you missed the bite.

I typically fish Lake-O for salmon and decided to try Lake Erie with my father for walleye in his new to him boat. Last Wednesday we headed out of the Catt. and motored out to all the other boats in about 80 FOW, I brought my 10-color lead core, a few brown trout rods, and all the necessary spoons, sticks, and worm harnesses since we do fish for walleye up near Henderson, on Lake-O. I was reading some of the Erie threads about using snap weights and thought we would give it a try, with that being said, this is the where I was totally at a lost. We sent the 10-color out with a Bomber Long-A stick and after I set up the other two rods with snap weights and trolling at 2.0 - 2.2 mph. I did so by letting out 50' of line, snapped a 1 oz weight on the line, and then sent out another 100' of line thinking I will be fishing my stick bait in about 50 FOW. Well, once we found the fish, the 10-color rod kept firing and we were unable to keep it in in the water for more than 5-10 minutes before it landed another, the other two rods with the snap weights never fired all day. I tried different sticks, spoons, and worm harnesses and still had no luck getting them on fish, the only thing that landed ALL our fish was the 10-color. Was there something I was doing wrong with setting up the snap weight rods ? I also tried to vary the length of line I sent out after attaching the snap weight but that didn't help either. This totally baffled me as to why these two rods never moved all day ?

How do folks make up their leader from dipsey to lure? The dipsey has a barrel swivel at the terminal end. Do folks put a snap on there to attach worm harnesses, or do you put a snap on the worm harness? How about a leader for a stickbait or spoon? Plain snap at each end or snap and a snap swivel? I had a leader ball up in a big knot last time out. Not sure how to prevent that. Maybe folks just tie off the leader directly to the dipsey. Rather avoid that as it's a problem with storage.

This is how I setup a Slide Diver Lite Bite- 1. Diver comes with a piece of clear tubing. Feed a short piece of tubing over the end of the rear trigger loop to close gap. This keeps your line in the trigger loop and makes deploying easier. See picture for detail.

	2. Put a piece of supplied surgical tubing over front trigger then slide on spring tube section. 3. For braid diver I tie in 40ft. of Maxima Ultragreen 40lb test Mono Leader material ( 30 or 35 ft works too). Can also substitute 30 or 40lb test Big Game mono. I like the 40lb leader as it holds up longer before it needs to be swapped out. I use a back to back uni knot to tie mono to the braid. For a wire diver use an Albright knot to attach 65lb braid to wire then use back to back uni knot to attach mono for slide material. 4. Feed the mono through diver add a piece of surgical tube under front trigger to lock mono before trigger is set. 5. Put a bead on the end of mono to help cushion knot when diver slides back. Tie on a quality snap swivel. 6. Adjust triggers- front trigger should be fairly tight and rear trigger fairly loose. Back trigger adjustment is pretty sensitive. Once you do a few it gets easier. 7. Tie a 3 or 4 ft fluorocarbon leader -I use 20lb test- with a barrel swivel on one end and a plain snap on the other end for your lure to attach to. This leader keeps diver from sliding down to the fish. Make it long enough but short enough for comfortable netting. You can rig a standard slide diver in same manner-just no rear trigger. With the mono slide leader no snubber required. This setup works on Lake Erie or Lake Ontario (use 30lb leader section for flasher fly or meat rig). I also use rings as I like my diver rods to load up so I get a solid release. Pictures attached. Hope this is helpful. The regular Luhr Jensen dipsey works great, I just think the slide diver with adjustable leader length is better.

I've decided to go with Bandit Deep Walleyes this year. What 4 colors would you order if you were starting out?
