I’m Don Stocum and I live outside of Watkins Glen, NY in the beautiful Fingerlakes area of upstate New York. I’m retired and love to fish/hunt. I grew up fishing Seneca lake, spending lot’s of time on several of the other lakes as well as Lake Ontario.

I’ve been a member of Lake Ontario United for some time and am looking forward to connecting with members here! I’m currently planning a fishing trip to outside of Port Clinton, Ohio, my first for Lake Erie walleye’s! I’m going with a few other guys who have been fishing there for several years and I’m excited about the opportunity.

	Thanks for letting me join!

Jim Pahel from Emporium, PA I run a black 16.75' Lund. Purchased the boat last fall and was able to get up once last year, put in out of North East, PA. Did fine the first trip up, looking to spend more time on both Erie and Ontario this summer. Just waiting for things to get started.

I have been a member for a while now but never introduced myself. I am 73 born in Jamestown TN Their mom moved her 7 kids to Muncie Indiana. I was 14 and started working in a canning factory and have worked ever since except for my 4 years in the marine corps. now and have fished almost all my life. I got my release from the Marine Corps in 76 and started salmon fishing in MI the same fall. but in the winter of 80 ice fishing for crappie, I caught my 1st walleye ever. caught it with a Johnson Century reel with a 4# line. it was so huge I thought I would never get it through the small hole. it was 29 1/2" and 9.5# I was hooked on walleye after that. fished Erie's western basin a year later and loved just drifting with the boat doing all the work. some years later, I moved to Geneva Ohio to fish the central basin for larger fish and it was amazing. got married in 71 when I was 20 and my wife was 16 and were happy and still together after all these years.

I still love fishing but don't fish much as all my old fishing buddies are dead or moved away. i used to deer hunt in all ways legal but now I'm lucky to get to muzzleloader hunt for a few days. my hunting is dependent on my oldest son's hunting.

just wanted everyone to feel the spirit of Christmas and didn't know where to post it. so may your Christmas be merry, and may the new year bring you guys the happiest days fishing you could ask for. most wanted is more members with more walleye stories on Lake Erie united.

last year on Erie wasn't anything to talk about. we got a new used 26' boat for Erie and was still rigging her the morning we left. the 1st day my oldest son said it was too rough and turned around and took us back in. the second day he wouldn't listen to me when I said we needed to go farther out after a friend that charters out of Geneve gave me a starting point. so, he shuts down early and starts fishing. we caught a few keepers, but most were small shorts. on our next day I finally got him to agree to go on out. but about 60' of water and the boat not running right he stopped and shut down to check the carb but when he tried to get it started it would not even turn over.

but it was overheating when idling but cooled down when running mid range. so, we used the kicker to troll in shallow water then used it to get back in. after that he just gave up and didn't even try to fix it. he hasn't touched the boat since to find the problem. I am 71 and have trouble getting around or up in the boat but I did find both batteries are shot. next year we will have time to get things fixed and water test it before taking it to Erie in July. so, next year I may have things to report. but i believe it will be a much better year if i can just get my son on the right page.

THQ all for posting to this forum I have watched it for a bit and appreciate the updates. I hope to get on the big pond with my new lady soon. On hour 7 of Break-in. So far she is amazing. pops up out of the hole, cruises on 2-3 footers that are consistent peeks at 40+. had 15mph south wind on Canandaigua, and WOT a few times into the wind in some nice waves.:)

Again THQ all for posting to this resource. I hope to get my first Erie Eye jigging sometime soon out of SBH.

Hi my fellow walleye fishermen and women. My son and I will celebrate my 84th birthday with a trip to lake Eire to fish for walleyes. We have booked a cottage in Westfield right near the marina. Looking for any guidance s to where to start fishing for eyes once we leave the marina. We have never fished Lake Erie and it is a dream come true for me. Any and all advice is welcomed. Thank you for taking the time to respond to me I really appreciate it, t thought if I asked the question early enough it would no interfere with your spring fishing.

Good Day All: I am mostly involved in the Saltwater scene at this time. I own a 25 Center Ranger with twin 175 Optis for the ocean and a 16 ft Sylvan with twin Suzuki 20s for my local lakes. I have never fished the big lakes but hope to get there this season. I am currently looking for an older 18-19 ft Aluminum project Boat to eventually replace my Sylvan. Prefer Monark but I'll have to see what's out there. My Ranger is up for sale on the Onterio site if anyone is interested.

Hi all fellow fishermen and ladies---I am new to this forum and am asking for reality fishing results on the east side vs. west side-Port Burwell in particular---we have fished Burwell for over 15 years and do very well most of the time---however I think a change to something 'new' as a challenge is now necessary which brings up the east side of Long Point---Port Dover is attractive to me and their marina is lovely---however---how and where and what is the reality for fishing out of P.Dover???--lots of tugs there so must be lots of fish too---so please advise with your insight and wisdom---thankyou--Alex--DrD--Grandpa

	Good evening all,

I've been on the Lake Ontario United board for about 15 years. Just joined here. Grew up in Massachusetts spending summers in Vermont on Lake Champlain fishing for walleyes, and later Lakers and Landlock Salmon. Moved to North Carolina in 2004, but started traveling to Lake Ontario in 2006 chasing Kings with my Dad, who retired in Upstate NY (Plattsburgh). I've made a couple of trips to Minnesota for walleyes, and have chased salmon and halibut on several trips to Alaska. My Dad has caught countless walleyes over 83 years, but never broke the #10 mark. Hoping to make that happen in a few weeks on our first trip to Lake Erie!

Hi All! We are new here and wanted to introduce ourselves. My kids are 13 and 11 and two years ago we started the business Reel Cool Lures. They lost some lures while fishing for Walleye and wanted to learn how to make their own worm harnesses. They learned how to tie knots and airbrush. Over the last two years I can't even tell you how much practice my son has spent airbrushing. We are now currently in 11 Bait & Tackle shops across NYS and hope to expand more. We have single and double hook worm harnesses, trolling spoons and even ice fishing strike rigs. We hope you will check us out. Our website is www.reelcoollures.com. We look forward to being part of this site!
